About / Biography

Matthew received his undergraduate degrees in Music Performance and Music Education at Ithaca
College in New York where he studied with Frank G. Campos, D. Kim Dunnick and George Coble. He was
the Concerto Competition Winner in 1990 performing the Haydn Trumpet Concerto that to this date has
only been won by only one other trumpet player at Ithaca College. While attending Ithaca College,
Matthew played with the Ithaca Brassworks brass quintet, Binghamton Symphony Orchestra as well
most all of the music ensembles at Ithaca College including the wind ensemble, orchestra, jazz ensemble
and jazz singers.
Matthew moved down to Dallas in 1991 where he went on to receive his Master of Music degree in
Performance at the University of North Texas where he was a Concerto Competition Finalist in 1996.
While attending UNT Matthew was also a Teaching Fellow giving private trumpet lessons as well as the
Brass Methods instructor while pursuing his DMA in trumpet performance. Trumpet teachers included
the great Don Jacoby, Keith Johnson, David Bilger, and Leonard A. Candelaria. Matthew played trumpet
in the UNT symphony, chamber symphony, brass choir, TF Brass Quintet, and the 4 O’clock jazz band.
Since in Dallas, Matthew has played with the Garland/Las Colinas Symphony, San Angelo Symphony,
Waco Symphony, Main Street Brass, The Classical Brass, David Alexander Productions, Metropolitan
Winds as well as various freelance work including churches, weddings, and musicals. He has also taught
private trumpet lessons in the Duncanville, Coppell, Southlake, Lewisville, Denton, and HEB school
districts as well as trumpet clinician. Currently, Mr. Seppeler can be seen playing trumpet with The
Singapore Slingers, The Royal Klobasneks, the Mansfield Wind Symphony, and various freelance work
in the Dallas area including church work, weddings, and jazz
