Harmony In Harlem has a unique repertoire of authentic Duke Ellington from the 1930s through to the 1960s. Harmony In Harlem can perform a solid repertoire of 1930s and 1940s Ellingtonia for a swing dance, wedding or private function but are equally comfortable performing concerts of more esoteric Ellingtonia in theatre venues.
Musical director Michael Kilpatrick has a reputation for his expertise in Duke Ellington - his authentic and accurate transcriptions are performed not only by his own orchestra Harmony In Harlem, but by the Royal College of Music, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and his transcription of the Such Sweet Thunder suite was performed by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland as part of the 2016 BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall.
