About / Biography

I'm a London based, soul/pop-rock, jazz/bossa vocalist and acoustic guitarist.

I have experience performing as a live music solo act at arts exhibitions, high end restaurants/bars, and

hotel lounge bars within the London area. I perform timeless classics from easy listening standards,

traditional pop, AOR, Soul/R&B and blues.

I specialise mainly in medium tempo, bossa and ballad songs, including songs from The Great American

and Latin American Songbooks (e.g. songs sung or composed by the likes of Nat “King” Cole, Frank Sinatra,

Tony Bennett, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Joao Gilberto, etc.) to Easy Listening standards, including classic songs

from traditional pop/R&B/soul (e.g. Burt Bacharach, Elton John, Bill Withers, Joni Mitchell, Mamas and Papas,

Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, etc.), to classic pop-rock/soul, R&B/pop, blues-rock (songs from Bill Withers, Sting,

Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, B B King, , Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Tina Turner, etc.).

I believe I would be a suitable option for those who prefer acts performing classic, elegant, timeless, sophisticated songs.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For venues that provide in-house PA, I would require:
- a microphone stand
- 2x 13 amp power sockets to connect my 2-channel preamp
- an extension lead (depending on available performance space)
- a stool/chair

What information do you require about a venue?

I'd need to know if the venue has an in-house PA system.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes (sound equipment only, which will be reflected in my fee), specifically:
- a 2-channel preamp/mixer to connect my guitar and microphone
- a 2000 watt powered PA speaker (QSC K8.2) with stand

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes - I can provide a basic DJ service (either before or/and between my performance set) playing
selections from a set list from my personal music collection of jazz, easy listening, classic pop/rock
and R&B/soul tunes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Bush Hall, Shepherds Bush, London. I was the support act for renowned UK R&B/Soul recording artist, Omar.

What's your favourite type of event?

Wedding receptions.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started performing with various bands whilst at university. I later started doing solo gigs
and have performed at many private and corporate function events over the years in the
UK and Europe.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I have rather eclectic tastes in music, as there is great music from artists of all music genres. Too many favourite artists, but:
From pop, easy listening: Michael Jackson, The Carpenters, Stevie Wonder, Sting, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel,
Michel Legrand, Chaka Khan, Burt Bacarach, Barbara Streisand, Joni Mitchell, Shirley Bassey, Steely Dan
From jazz and latin: Miles Davis, Toots Thielemanns (the harmonica player featured on the Sesame Street TV show),
Nat 'King' Cole, Nina Simone, Shirley Horn, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Tony Bennett, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny,
Lyle Mays, George Duke, Flora Purim, Sarah Vaughan, Al Jarreau, Bob James, Earl Klugh, Toninho Horta.
From flamenco: Paco de Lucia, Moraito Chico, Tomatito.

There are so many great songs, but one of my favourites is "We Have All The Time In The World", by Louis Armstrong (written by
composer John Barry and lyricist Hal David).

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. I normally perform 2 x 50 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets.
I'm happy to play a bit longer if necessary.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes - I am happy to play outside, but I ask for shade (i.e. a canopy tent or similar), a flat level surface
and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

It takes time and effort to learn unfamiliar songs that are not on my repertoire list, however, I am
willing to accommodate client's song requests (limited to 3 songs) if given prior notice.

I can provide a full repertoire set list on request.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers have described my performances as mellow, pleasantly unobtrusive, with an ability to
provide interesting interpretations of timeless, classic tunes.
