About / Biography

Alex Ferry is a self-taught Rock'n'Roller who started creating his own rearrangements of other artists' songs, resulting in a work he started in Germany, in acoustic and solo.

Later, in Portugal, Alex was evolving his technique and repertoire, creating "UИO", a covers project related to what he had previously presented, being a covers project of musicians from bands like MUSE, NIRVANA, The Beatles, GREEN DAY, INXS, Radiohead, Kodaline, António Variações, Toranja, Artic Monkeys, The Dear Hunter and many more, with a mix of about 7o themes of different types and musical strands like "OLDIES", "BALLADS", "POP", "POP-ROCK", "ROCK", "GRUNGE", etc. ... performing in acoustic and/or electric.

Alex chose to be a street musician in the summer of 2022, presenting part of his repertoire without taboos and without amplification, in squares and esplanades, obtaining very positive results and emotionally "out of the box" experiences.

Alex is in progress, working from streets, bars and live music venues, also been working in his original music themes, Portuguese, but still composing in is favourite language, English. Looking out to form a band

Alex also presents fully the NIRVANA'S "Unplugged in New York ", which is a tribute project to NIRVANA, in which the album Unplugged in New York is presented, solo, as a duo or with more elements and instruments, upon request of the public and hosts, with a crude light and candle ornaments, imitating as much as possible the scenario of this well-known and highly regarded album in acoustic, of a band that turned the page from alternative Rock'n'Roll / "GRUNGE".

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Performance place in between 2x1,5m to 4x3m.

What information do you require about a venue?

I must know the venue's address ,I would also like to know if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes. I carry my PA , sometimes I may need a rental, depending on the performance place. Lighting can follow same procedure.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

One of my best performances was in Águeda - Aveiro, at JOHNNY 101, wich I played for almost 4 hours, exchanging from acoustic to electric, using a looping pedal for instrumental background and live record loops for solos in acoustic.
The crowd was wild, but that day the manager didn't had to stop the event, this is one of the places we're I feel lost of love from the public.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love bars the most, but looking at an amazing loaded crowd from an amazing stage, is more then amazing. I also love a quieter acoustic events, closer to the public, with some interaction.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

My latest experience was at JOHNNY 101 IN Águeda - Aveiro/Portugal.
I started gigging, because someone said I was an artist... then I thrown my self to the streets and began to have some invitations to venues, from people who saw me playing on the streets.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Mostly MUSE, NIRVANA, TOOL... but I have listened to many others and I don't play most of my preferences, fusing my style with the many hits from the music market, from a large variety of artists and genres.
