My name is Mikey and I can add something unique to your event with my hand drawn and painted, on-the-spot sketch portraits of you and your guests/clients.
I can customise the paper I use to either add a simple boarder to compliment your stylish event or add the party theme or company logo.
I am adaptable to any event and add value, class and have people talking about your event for months later.
= areas covered (up to 100 miles)I require an area for people to stand and for me to sketch them as I chat with them. I would say around 3 meters square in space to make sure I am not knocked and the people are a required distance away to see their full outfit.
I need a well-lit area. Hopefully, the venue will have good lighting. I have rechargeable lamps but they are mostly good for me to make sure I am able to see the correct colours when painting but not great for illuminating a dark area/room..
I will need to be away from a disco area as there are usually multiple colours flashing around which makes seeing the colours people are wearing difficult.
I have done live sketch portraits at weddings, live music gigs, talent shows, New Year's party events... it's so hard to say which is my fave... but the two "seasons" of a Brighton based talent show are probably my fave as there was so much variety from Drag to Burlesque, dance, Comedy, poetry and more.
One with interesting-looking people and outfits and people with interesting personalities.
My previous experience is drawing caricatures, and I still also do this, but this Live Portrait and Event Sketching evolved from a mixture of sketching people on my commutes and sketching at Open Mic nights.
That is a hard one... there have been so many over the years that have helped me define my style and approach... but currently, Felix Scheinberger is a big inspiration.
My setup is a tripod with a drawing surface on top. I will stand and sketch standing people for their sketch portraits or sketch performers.
If the weather is good then I am happy to work outside, preferably in the shade. ...even slight drizzle and paper don't mix well and can ruin the work I do. My setup is easy to move indoors though.
Previous clients are touched by the sketches I provide for them. They love how I capture people's personality, their energy and posture. They love how it adds a personal touch and capture the event that can be kept for years to come.
