About / Biography

The son of a symphony musician and an opera singer, Byron Goble was born in Germany and grew up in Houston where he began his formal musical training at an early age with the violin. As a member of the Fort Bend Boys Choir, he made international concert tours, performed at ACDA and TMEA conventions, and appeared with the Houston Symphony, the English Symphony Orchestra, and the Mexican Symphony Orchestra. From 2000-2004, he was a member of the Stephen F. Austin High School Honors Band and Drum-line in Fort Bend ISD which consistently ranked among the top band programs in the nation, placing 5th at BOA Grand Nationals and 1st at Houston and Huntsville BOA Regionals.

In 2005, Byron began his study of classical guitar with Valerie Hartzell in Katy, TX. Goble graduated from Texas A&M University where he earned a BA in Music and German. At A&M, he was a member of the studios of Isaac Bustos, Brian Vogel, Peter Lieuwen, and Paul Sikes, studying classical guitar, percussion, composition, and orchestral conducting. Byron was a prizewinner in the 2011 and 2008 Classical Minds Guitar Competitions as well as the 2007 Eastfield Collegiate Guitar Competition and was a founding member of the A&M Guitar Quartet, which won 2nd prize at the 2010 UTB Guitar Ensemble Competition. He has performed in master classes for renowned artists such as Los Romeros, Adam Holzman, Grisha Goryachev, Nicholas Goluses, Duo Melis, SoloDuo, and Bob Guthrie. In 2009, Byron was invited to perform as a soloist at the Guitar Orchestra Workshop in Plano, TX where he served on faculty. Mr. Goble conducted the premier of his work, Amazonas, which he composed for the 2012 Classical Minds Youth Guitar Orchestra. Also, he has taught at the Texas Music Festival, the Greater Houston Guitar Guild and is a sought-after clinician and adjudicator for school music ensembles.

Mr. Goble holds Texas EC-12 Teacher Certification and has taught band, choir, and German in Katy ISD, College Station ISD, and Bastrop ISD. He has also maintained a studio of private students over the last 20 years, many of whom have won awards at Regional and State UIL competitions. In 2015, Byron was accepted into the Enterprise Holdings Management Trainee Program. Upon completion, he earned several management promotions and transitioned into a career as an Account Executive. He worked in both inside and outside sales from 2015-2021 for companies within the music, digital marketing, tech, and transportation industries. In 2021, Mr. Goble joined the fine arts team at LBJ Early College High School in Austin, TX as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Specialist and was later promoted to Director of Bands. Professional affiliations include Mu Phi Epsilon, TMEA, and Austin Classical Guitar. Mr. Goble is currently working on recording of a collection of pieces for guitar by early Spanish composers Gaspar Sanz, Alonso Mudarra, and Luys de Narvaez and is also working on a composing a multi-movement work for Wind Ensemble (release dates TBD).
