We do have our own PA equipment and will bring it where there is none already provided. Generally for private functions we bring our own. But for corporate functions they usually have PA already provided. Also for larger gigs and festivals, we have to submit a tech rider so they can bring everything that we need..
Yes, if requested. This will usually be an additional service and catered to the clients needs following consultation.
Singing in Sibiu, Romania for the FITS 2024 FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL 26th to 28th June with my team GIANT GOSPEL CHOIR Sang in 3 beautiful cathedrals to a packed audience. Just amazing. We didn't have to bring any gear. All provided according to our tech rider and the engineers were fab. I can also say that from being part of the Shaking Stevens band as a Shakette and doing the tours and festivals all over singing in all the national theatre, working with Sam Smith and Rick Ashley, George Michael on the cover to Cover your with Elton John and Net Aid with Lionel Richie and Will Young, I would say my most memorable would be my time on tour with my team in Ghana, Kumasi, Takraidi and Accra teaching vocal workshop at Cape Coast University and performing in the national theaters radio and TV. Touring in 2005 with the Temptations and Four Tops singing with Chris Clarke to open. England Scotland and Wales.. I love singing in the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena and the NEC in B'ham.
I love doing weddings because I also make wedding dresses and I love to see people happy and love singing about love. I also, as an accredited life coach do talks in front of audiences on relationships in between singing my songs and do one to one sessions sometimes for couples who need advice.. Outside of weddings, I love doing big concerts and festivals and I like doing tv performances also. It can be a long day with lots of sitting in the dressing room but it is still fun.. don't mind recording sessions when I have a team creating on the spot. I also love love love hosting/singing live shows with a jam band and creating on the spot with audience participation and an open mic element.. I love the interaction and the encouragement it gives to the up and coming artists..
I have been in the professional music industry from the age of 16 as an international artist/songwriter and vocal trainer/artist developer/artist manager for both signed and unsigned artists. I have toured nationally and internationally. I have 2 albums releases, the first of which won the BBC Gem Award for Best Female Newcomer back in 2003. I always had music around me and had classical vocal training from the age of 13 after being heard by a music professor who was also my piano teacher. I have also been teaching vocals from the age of 16. I sang with LCGC for 10 years and Croydon SDA Gospel Choir prior to that. I directed my own choir, Plumstead Gospel Choir of 24 singers for 6 years and teamed on a production with Dame Susan Digby with her Voices Foundation choir. I continued on to host many concerts with my choir then broke away to tour my album in London, Birmingham, Italy, the USA and Ghana after winning the BBC Gem Award. Since then I have sang in many places and continue to.
Mahalia Jackson was who I grew up on. Gladys Knight, Pattie Labelle, Denise Williams, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Maze, Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin, Luther Vandross, Diana Ross, George Benson, Al Jerrou, Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, The Hawkins, Andre Crouch, Richard Smallwood. All their songs....can't choose.. all great.
We usually arrive 2hrs prior to event, set up time takes around 30 mins. Soundcheck 30 mins. 1 hour to change and chill prior to start. We usually do 2 x 45 mins set with 15 to 30 mins break, depending on client programme/requirement. Usually a DJ will play in between set if the longer break of 30 mins. Last set sometimes goes on longer as they are enjoying it so much if it's a wedding.. For Big concerts or festivals, they usually stick to time slots given.. Sometimes we just play through with no break which may be an hour set.
Yes, accustomed to doing outside festivals and functions.. usually has a big stage set up under cover with full PA set up with backline and elevated stage.
We have our repertoire set lists but if they want us to learn something specific they usually pay more for extra rehearsal time. We usually let them know what the set list is and they approve it. If it is original songs and it's a concert or festival with additional known numbers then they are coming to hear what we do as an artist. If it is an private or corporate event/celebration then we go through the material with them and agree on it.
Inspirational, exciting (when wedo songs that get them on their feet), interactive, amazing, our performance made their celebration,...can't wait for us to come back. Want to know where we are playing next..made them cry.. touched their hearts... Can't wait until next time. Don't want to go home.. can we sing some more...!!
Preference is to perform with a live musician or full band and singers as you can be limited by backing tracks in terms of interaction with your audience with a song. However if budget is small, the options are: Solo Acoustic sets with a pianist or Solo set with backing tracks if the set requires minimal interaction (ie.no stopping mid song).
Preference is full band set.
