Daf Jones is a popular name amongst the music scene in North Wales. A self-taught guitarist and accomplished singer/songwriter, Daf composes, writes and sings his own material both in English and in Welsh.
Having built up a reputation for an energetic and engaging live set, Daf always plays a strong repertoire at venues, always being well-received. He is dependable, hard-working and flexible.
Daf released his first full-length album, a Welsh record called ‘Paid Troi ‘Nôl’ (Don’t Turn Back) back in 2021 which was very well received by the Welsh music scene and media. The lead single, ‘Diffodd y Swits’ (Put Out the Switch) was chosen as the acclaimed ‘Trac yr Wythnos’ (Track of the Week) on BBC Radio Cymru, and a second song, ‘Tafliad Carreg’ (A Stone’s Throw) was also chosen on the station’s shortlist.
Another album track, ‘Sbardun’ (Spark) was chosen to feature as the opening track in the acclaimed Welsh music series, ‘Noson Lawen’ on Welsh language channel, S4C, which was extremely well-received.
Daf previously released a bilingual EP, ‘Dare to Dream’ in 2019, which was well-received, and before then in 2016, released a single, ‘Stone’, which was received with a lot of positive reviews.
Daf is currently working on his second full-length album, titled 'Dianc' (Escape) - a darker, more experimental follow-up to his debut album. Combining heavy guitar riffs, tight rhythm sections, soaring melodies and hard-hitting lyrics, Daf is hoping that the slightly different direction is well-received but understands some people may expect the same album as three years ago and it is a bit different. Three singles were released last year - the anthemic 'Paid Gadael Fynd' (Don't Let Go) which was a song written about a colleague who sadly passed away. The second single, 'Pry Cop' (Spider) is a hard-hitting, dark, riff heavy track about the dangers of the dark web. The third single, 'Y Bocs Atgofion' (Box of Memories) is an uplifting, alternative track about Daf's childhood. A fourth single was released this year, 'Yn Y Fagl' (In the Crutch) - about the danger of not realising how things will turn out unless you wake up and realise the issues going on. A dark, heavy, riff-based song sets the tone for the rest of the album. Daf hopes to complete the songs this year and the album is due for release in early 2025.
Daf is also fully insured against public liability and all electrical equipment has been PAT tested.
Daf’s shows are suitable for most audiences, and open to playing pubs, bars, restaurants, weddings and various other events.

I supply my own PA system with built in speaker including microphone and guitar output to all gigs unless venue agrees to use their own beforehand.
Music from Spotify can be provided before and between sets - usually I choose the music myself but happy to engage with individual / venue to discuss.
Best gig ever done - in my own right - playing a gig at Sioe Môn (Anglesey Show) last year, had such good feedback and led to a television appearance. Best gig as a supporting artist - supporting Dafydd Iwan in Aberystwyth. I lived in Aberystwyth for 4 years and it was also like a second home gig for me. Was also important as it was part of the Eisteddfod in Tregaron that year.
All types really but pubs are what I have most experience of. Weddings are good too as people always join in.
I started gigging many years ago - have been as part of a duo since 2005 and after disbanding in 2009, I played open mic nights locally from around 2011 onwards as a solo artist. I played very few gigs for many years but since around 2016 I played more gigs and further afield including across Wales and North West England. I played 60-70 gigs (once a week) during the pandemic at home, live-streaming my performances on Facebook. After lockdown came to an end and venues reopened I was busier than ever and have by now played hundreds of gigs and a variety of venues including pubs, restaurants, bars, weddings, functions and charity events.
Stereophonics, Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams are my main influences. My favourite artist (band) is Queen and the greatest song of all time for me is Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Free Bird’.
Typically I’ll arrive 30 mins before my start time to set up, perform 2 x 45 minutes with a variable break in between dependent on how busy or quiet it is. If it is quieter, it will be a shorter break and an earlier finish. However, I have also done longer sets on request on the night for an additional fee, and am happy to be flexible.
Yes - however if it is raining or wet I will require cover for my electrical equipment.
Usually setlist repertoire only - however happy to listen if client wants a certain song and if I know it I will play it. If not, I will suggest other alternatives I can play for them. However I try to stick to my setlist as I prepare for each gig individually and don’t want people to think I’m like karaoke!
A high-energy act with a variety of songs, both covers and originals, and, depending on the venue, can be bilingual as well.
