About / Biography

Dan Walsh is regarded as one of the country's top banjo players and an accomplished singer and guitarist. He has been nominated as BBC Folk Awards Musician of the Year and has toured all over Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and India as well as having five critically acclaimed solo albums. He is also a member of the award winning Urban Folk Quartet and has appeared on stage or in the studio with the likes of Imelda May, Joss Stone, the Levellers and Seth Lakeman.

As well as his international touring schedule, Dan has appeared at all manner of functions including weddings, funerals, wakes and birthday or anniversary parties. He can provide background music at a reception, a song/tune for a ceremony or a fully fledged show where his lively humour can come in! He can perform purely instrumental numbers, vocal songs or a mixture of both. Dan also has a very wide repertoire of music to call on. His specialism is folk music from Britain, Ireland and America with an expertise in playing jigs and reels and a wide repertoire of songs but he also has an extensive list of jazz songs, rock/pop covers and even some exotic pieces from India or Eastern Europe.

Dan often performs completely solo but also has duo/trio/band options.
