Hi there, I'm a musician with decades of experience who will add a touch of class to your event. I'm flexible, friendly, and accommodating.
My styles are:
Jazz; Pop; Rock; Ibiza; Chillout; Sax n DJ.
I usually play to tracks but also have a Jazz Duo or Trio.
I always get 5 Star reviews.
Over the years, I've played with, and for some really famous people. I've also played to Royalty many tines.
I use a Bose S1 Pro+ PA system that will be good for events with up to 200 guests. All I need is a dry place and I'm good to go. I don't take up a lot of space and I can set up in as little as 25 minutes if I get to park close by. The setup is a little slower if I have to carry the gear a distance.
I only need a space that's 2m across and deep. My PA is battery-operated, so I don't need power unless I use my lights. I'll need parking for one car close to the performance space, please.
I need precise directions to the venue and clear instructions telling me where I can load in my equipment, please. I'll also need to know if there is a sound limiter in the venue.
I am totally self contained. I bring my PA and a simple lighting rig to every gig.
I'm happy to provide a Spotify playlist from 30 minutes before my performance time and up to 1 hour after my performance time. This will incur an additional cost and will need to be factored into any quote requested.
I can and I'm happy to do so. This will incur additional costs, especially if it lengthens the time I'm at the event.
It is almost impossible to pick. Maybe, way back in the 1980s when I was fortunate enough to be in the brass section for a Four Tops tour promotion gig in Malaga. I still have the photo of Levi Stubbs with a very nervous-looking 24-year-old me showing over his shoulder.
For me, my favourite is any event that is a celebration. Be that a wedding, or any party. Whilst I also enjoy the challenge of playing quietly in the background in a restaurant, a chance to enhance a party is where I'm at my most vibrant.
I've been a performing musician for most of my adult life. To think that I've accrued almost 50 years of playing experience is quite sobering but means I can bring all of it to a performance. Every performance still feels as fresh as the first despite there having been hundreds so far.
I have many influences in my playing. For jazz, it has to be Michael Brecker. For funk; David Sanborn or Maceo Parker. Although I don't have a specific influence for Pop playing, I take inspiration from many of the great performers. I listen to the inflexion in the singing by the original artist and use that to inform how I approach playing the song on the saxophone.
I usually arrive about an hour before the start of any performance. This includes where a playlist is needed before my actual performance time. I play several set lengths. There is a 1 hour straight through set. the most popular is 2 x 45-minute sets. I am happy to play for longer if required, or for a shorter time, depending on the needs of my customer.
I'm very happy to play outside. This is where battery-powered PA units come into their own. I need to have shade and protection from any inclement weather. A level surface is always easier to set up on too. I need to be near a power source to use my basic lighting rig.
I always provide a list of songs for clients to choose from. Some like to give me a selection whilst others let me read the room and pick songs to play appropriately. As I add new material all the time, any request is fully considered and played if possible.
My previous customers used words and phrases like energetic, talented, fitting and "made the party". I'm often complimented on the flexibility of my playlist selection and my ability to ready the room.
Yes, I do but there are conditions. Requests need to be suitable for playing on the saxophone. I need enough time to prepare the request. If I have to create a bespoke backing track, there will be a fee for this.
If the move is in the same venue, yes within reason. A move to a different venue i.e a church to a reception venue is also doable but will add to your costs.
If practical, yes. Putting things back or forward up to an hour or so is usually possible if there is no knock-on effect to preceding or following events. There may be a cost to this but not usually for minor changes.
