British Jamaican sax player and singer
songwriter Dhuryahdas
brings an explosion of musical culture and
flavour to your ears, uniting us through song
and dance in an uplifting show of high-
vibrational conscious music and positive energy.
Live-looping of sax and vocals along with sample
mixing enables this one-man show to pack a
punch like a full band, mixing Reggae, Hip-
Hop, World Music and Jazz to bring us
together and connect us as one people, healing
our emotions through high vibration music
therapy.
Over the last 13 years Dhuryahdas has had the opportunity to live a variety of enriching musical
experiences with musicians and audiences in Cuba, Jamaica, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia
and Mexico developing his show into a powerful interactive experience of energetic
harmonization.
Love is the key: On stage the tenor and soprano saxophones are his weapons of choice, playing
sweet melodies or raucous, punchy lines over looped harmonies from the same two horns. The
looping also enables him to sing full choruses, channelling his Afro-Celtic roots right through the
speakers into the room, creating a powerful vibration to move the heart and soul. All this
established on stage, Handerk then uses his commanding presence and wide-range of vocal
tones to sing, rap and chant his way into your heart and remind you that you are part of
something bigger in this universe and that love conquers all.
I need a performance space of at least 2x3 meters. I require:
1 mic stand
1 voc mic (SM58 or similar)
2 mic cables (XLR)
2 audio cables with jack connectors from my interface to console or direct to speakers
1 table 150cmx80cm for my computer, controller, interface and sax stand
Does it have a console and or speakers?
Will there be a sound engineer present for the event?
Yes I will need the speakers, console and lighting.
I bring the computer, interface, controller, sax and mic
Yes I'm happy to play music from Spotify or iTunes before, after and between my sets and I'm happy to choose it myself or let the client choose the music
I performed with a reggae band at Rock al Parque, the biggest free rock festival in South America, in front of 40,00 people. We were on at 7pm on a Saturday night on the main stage after Cultura Profetica and before Black Uhuru
Festival, concerts and ecstatic dances
I started gigging with many different bands when I lived in Colombia from 2010, I eventually started my own band which developed into a live looping set for greater reliability and independence. I had experiences of musicians lettting me down so I set up my own show and haven't looked back since
Buju Banton, Stevie Wonder, Jacob Collier, Bobby McFerrin, Damien Marley
Greatest song: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
I normally arrive an hour before a performance to set up. It only takes 10 minutes but I like to do a sound check and get the levels right and feel comfortable with the space. I normally perform 2x45min sets, but sometimes just play straight through for an hour and a half to two hours if the people are loving it.
Yes I like to perform outside but I don't like to get my sax or computer wet
Set repertoire list or original music, but very dependant on the vibe of the audience. If they're up for singing with me then that's the idea and I like to improvise songs with them and get a lot of interaction going on
Sick, really cool, they love the sax and the looping
