About / Biography

The band was formed in the summer of 2019.

The band members are:

Grigory Parshin - tenor saxophone

Dmytro Kovalenko - guitar

Nickolai Kistenov - bass

Andriy Voytyuk - drums

The band has a huge repertoire of Jazz Standards, Popular Melodies, Original Compositions that can perfectly fit into weddings, different events, festivals, lounge background gigs, etc.

Let me tell you a little bit about band members:

Parshin Gregory was born in 1992 in Kryviy Rig city, Ukraine. Start to study piano at the age of 9 in music school #10.

At the age of 11 started to play on alto saxophone as well. Join the "Children Big Band", were started to play jazz music and fell in love with the sounds of the big band.

Was studying at Kryviy Rig College of music for two years, after moved to Kyiv, and was the student of the Glier Institute of music by 6 years.

Now living in Kyiv, playing with great Ukrainian musicians like Dennis Adu big band, Dmitry Kovalenko quartet, and a lot of many talented musicians on jazz sessions and other gigs.

He likes good music and trying to do his best.

Dmitry Kovalenko is a Kyiv-based jazz guitarist, composer, and arranger.

Was born in Kyiv in 1989. Since early childhood got interested in music.

At 5 years old attended choir and started to take piano lessons.

Then at 11 switched to guitar and trumpet.

Started to play bass guitar at a school ensemble.

In 2005 studied in Glier Music college than in 2007 in Kyiv national conservatoire. In 2009 was accepted to the University of music and performing art in Graz, Austria.

Since moving to Graz immediately got plenty of gigs with other students and teachers. Started to host a personal jam session in a local bar.

Took part in an educational program in Montenegro in 2010 as an ensemble teacher.

Moved to Kyiv in 2011 then started to capture the Kyiv local scene. Played guitar in Kyiv Big Bang, Big Jump Big Band. Got much interested in Gypsy, Balkan and klezmer music. Became a constant member of Pushkin Klezmer Band and Babuchi and Brothers Gypsy band. At the same time started to study jazz-manouche music language. Played a couple of years in Urban Gypsy jazz-manouche group. Actively composing contemporary jazz tunes and playing with local jazz musicians.

Hosting jam sessions in an art gallery.

Played on various jazz festivals:

Jazz Koktebel 2008, Jazz Werkstatt Graz 2009, Dodje Kiev 2008, Val-Amar jazz fest 2010. Jazz in Kiev 2012, Alpha jazz Lviv 2015.

Nickolai Kistenov was born in 1980 in Dnepropetrovsk.

At 5 years old went to Music School #1 to Accordeon class.

In 1995 was accepted to Dnieprodzerzhinsk Glinka music college to accordion specialty, finished with a "red" diploma and won a Grand-Prix at All-Ukrainian contest among accordionists.

In 1999 was accepted to Kiev National Conservatoire to prof. Besfamil'ny to accordion class. In 2000 became the 1st prizewinner at an international accordionist contest in Poland. In 2003 became a 2-nd prizewinner

in an international contest "Krivbass-Cup". After finishing his studies in 2004, he switched to bass-guitar and double-bass.

Worked at the O.Ponomarev band, played in a band with Serbian musicians and was a constant member of several cover-bands.

Constantly worked as a studio session musician, took part in Ukrainian show-biz recordings.

Was born in 1975 in L'viv

Finished Krushel'nitska music school.

Then studied at L'viv State University at philologic faculty.

From 1991 to 1997 - member of "Misto Mamphis", "Drugline", "Lesya Herasimchuk", "Victor Tsaran", "Korolivs'ki Zaytsi',

"Okrema Teritoriya", "Znovu za stare", "999", "Ocheretyany Kvark", "Rudolph Diesel", "Red Faces", "Avogardo", "Lesik Band",

etc. From 1997 to 2003 works as a soun engineer at Lviv "Gold Lion" music production. Works with "Ot Vinta", Lilya Vavrin,

Roman Hryn'kiv. In may 1998 was released his first experimental album under a pseudonym "DJ Balandyuk" called "Mutation 1-Rhythm Power".

The track from this album Parlament'97 appeared in top Lviv FM Radiostations.

In 2005 under the direction of Mark Tokar studies jazz improvisation. Takes music lessons from Łukasz Żyta і Kuba Stankiewicz.

The same year started a collaboration with Mark Tokar, Martin Tvedun and Yury Yaremchuk as a "Leo'm'art" member.

At the same time continues his work as a folklore musician with "Faino", "Ocheretyany Kit" and "Sontseklyosh".

From 2008 is a constant band-member of "MT-3". Taking part in jazz projects as Alex Maksymiv Trio, Mark Tokar Trio.

Works as a session musician and sound engineer with "Platsch Ieremiyi", with "Esthetic Education" as a concert sound engineer.

In 2008 - a famous concert session with Alan Silson Band ("Smokie").

In December 2010 becomes a member of "Pushkin Klezmer Band". Under the influence of Dmitry Gerasimov begins to dig into Klezmer music and culture.

The same year performs as a session musician with a klezmer pianist and singer Roman Grinberg. Performs at plenty of Klezmer Festivals in Ukraine and abroad.

In 2013 begins collaboration with Orest Krysa from Kiev at a brand new "Solar Machine" band. Takes part in recording a "Made In Ukraine" album with Braty Hadyukiny band.

The same year got a proposition from Braty Hadyukiny to become a full-time member of the band but refuses due to the current approval of collaboration with Spirit of Smokie (ex Smokie) instead of Ron Kelly.
