I currently use Pioneer CDJ 2000S. There is non comparable.
I also DJ on a Numark Pro 3 when I do not wish to haul a large set up, especially if a venue is too small.
I occasionally use software such as Virtual DJ & RekordBox as a stand alone. It is real easy to set up playlists on it, especially for weddings and events where particular playlists are important.

I have performed for the MSC Bhangra Boat. It was amazing to entertain a large crowd of people on a ship equipped for pure entertainment for an entire weekend. There was no sleep!

My favourite event would be a birthday party! Everyone is festive and joyful and there's no restriction on games. Its all about fun!

I started DJing during my first year of University. My neighbor saw that I had bought speakers for my personal use, and asked me to play some music for his daughters pre wedding party. Mind you, at that time, I knew nothing about DJn. I went in equipped with 20 songs on my laptop. The next day my neighbor handed me R200.
There are very few moments in life that define you, and when I was given that R200, little did I know, I was heading into a whole new world of music and entertainment.
Thereafter, I took on backyard parties, small gatherings, anything to make some money. Being in college was expensive, even back in 2011!
Each party became bigger, meeting a variety of common and important people alike. And just like that, I was drawn to Radio. I started at Megazone Radio in mid 2019, and then made my way into the SABC in December 2021 on Lotus FM, where I am currently an RJ/DJ/Producer of the Friday Night Club Show 'IN DA MIX'.

Every event is scheduled for maximum of 6 hours. Anything over that is a per hour charge.

Yes! I am happy to perform anywhere, provided the surface is flat and spacious. There must also be a close power supply for any equipment that I may use.

Clients have all the say in the music for their event. This is why I sit with clients well before their event to compile and produce the music based on their likes and requests. Every family is different, and its important to take their considerations for everyone to have an enjoyable experience!

I have an eclectic style of music. South Africa is not only a Rainbow Nation in terms of Race. But the music genres are just as colorful because of our variety of cultural and social groups.
From Mainstream, to Old School, Eastern to Western, to African, to English, to Indian, Spanish, Irish, Mexican, Trinidadian, amapiano, ama-Indiano, Alternative, big room, to Old School Rock N Roll, I listen to, and play them all!
My current forte is Eastern/Western Dance and EDM.

My first DJ competition was a fusion event that took place at The Warehouse in Central Durban. I went up against industry greats such as DJ Devan Singh and DJ Dion Chetty. I was so afraid of going up against them, I figured I had to do something to stand out. So I took a huge Bhangra Dhol Drum and played it on stage during the beat drop of the song Danza Kuduro. The crowd went wild! And on that night, everyone knew the name DJ Nicholas Pillay!

I have the pleasure of being apart of some amazing projects for 2025.
I will be on The MSC Bhangra Boat at the end of February, with a host of other amazing South African Talent. I have been working with Lee Who for the last year who has exciting plans to take the Bollyrave franchise to different provinces. Imagine Tomorrowland, but for Bollywood music. That's the level we are going to this year!
And on Lotus FM, I am using the national platform to introduce new talent to the country. We need to pave the way for younger and fresher talent! Tune in to my show every Friday night at 22h00!
