For me to bring the groove to life, I need a performance space of at least 4 meters by 3 meters. I also require two 13-amp power sockets to keep the beats flowing all night. And if possible, a couple of parking spaces close to the venue would make loading in and out a breeze. It's all about making sure the setup is smooth so I can focus on delivering a killer set.
To ensure everything runs smoothly, I'd need detailed directions to the venue, especially the best spot for loading in my gear. If there's a sound limiter in place, it's crucial to know that in advance so I can plan my set accordingly. Also, a heads-up on any unique venue quirks or restrictions would help me tailor the experience to fit the space perfectly. Clear directions to the venue are a must, if the directions/access tend to be complex.
- Personally, with respect to local clients, I can provide sound (my own PA System; Mixing Controller)
- For larger events/venues, I rely on the equipment of the Venue
It depends on the setup. If there is a connection to the mixer and a way to get the track to a USB (or there's a Pioneer mixer with Bluetooth), i'm happy to....if possible!
What sets me apart is my ability to fuse technical skill with real, authentic connections beyond and behind the decks. I’ve been in the game for over 22 years, and in that time, I’ve developed a knack for reading the room and delivering exactly what the crowd needs at that moment. I’m not just playing tracks; I’m telling a story, blending genres, and creating a vibe that’s unique to each event. My sets are soulful, funky, and always designed to keep the dance floor moving. It’s about creating an experience that people will remember long after the music stops.
The best gig I’ve ever done has to be 2024 Velvet in San Francisco. This event was hosted by all of the LGBTQ+ organizers, including myself, and it was an absolute honor to be part of something so vibrant and inclusive. The energy that night was off the charts—everyone was there to celebrate, connect, and dance the night away. It wasn’t just a gig; it was a powerful experience of community and music coming together. If you want to check out the details of this unforgettable night, you can find them by Googling "Velvet SF 2024."
There's nothing quite like a house/funk/disco party! The energy is unmatched, and the vibe just flows from one track to the next. It's all about creating that perfect groove that keeps everyone moving. I love seeing people lose themselves in the music—it’s pure magic.
I’ve been spinning tracks for over 22 years, starting back when I first laid my hands on turntables in 2003. It all kicked off with some old skool rave vibes, but my love for DJing really took flight when I discovered the funkier side of house music. From there, I’ve played everywhere from intimate club settings to massive festivals, and every gig has added to the journey. The thrill of sharing my sound with the crowd is what keeps me coming back.
I’ve always been influenced by artists who know how to blend soul and rhythm into their music. Artists like Daft Punk, Frankie Knuckles, DJ Dan, DJ Mes, and Nile Rodgers have shaped my sound, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Prince. His fusion of funk, rock, and soul was revolutionary. And when it comes to the greatest song of all time? That’s tough, but I’d say ‘Good Times’ by Chic—because it’s impossible not to feel that groove!
One of the biggest challenges has been staying true to my musical identity while also evolving with the industry. The music scene is constantly changing, and it’s easy to get caught up in trends. However, I’ve always focused on maintaining the essence of what makes my sound unique—blending groovy, jackin', old skool beats with a soul. and funky rhythms. Another challenge has been managing the technical aspects of live performances, especially in unconventional venues. These challenges have made me more adaptable and have taught me the importance of preparation and versatility. They’ve shaped me into a DJ who can handle any situation while staying true to my sound."
I usually arrive about 2 hours before the gig to get everything set up just right. My sets typically run 1 to 6 hours, depending on the event and the energy of the crowd. Whether it's a marathon session or a shorter, more intense set, I’m all about creating the perfect vibe to keep everyone moving.
I'm always down for an outdoor set! There's something special about playing under the open sky. All I need is some shade, a flat, level surface, and a reliable power supply close to the performance area. As long as those bases are covered, I’m ready to bring the beats to any outdoor setting.
I’m all about letting the energy of the crowd vibe with mine. While I rarely take requests, there are occasions when it feels right. However, I usually prefer to read the room and throw down tracks that resonate with my soul and the audience. It’s all about creating an organic, unforgettable experience.
Clients often describe my performances as 'electric,' 'funky,' and 'transformative.' They appreciate how I can seamlessly blend different genres to create a unique atmosphere that keeps the dance floor packed all night. The feedback I get the most? I have never left a gig without one person coming up to me to say thank you for making their nights.; that I know how to read the crowd and keep the energy high from start to finish.
With over two decades in the industry, I’ve learned that every event has its own rhythm. I tap into that by blending my knowledge of different genres and my understanding of crowd dynamics. Whether it’s a high-energy festival set or a more intimate club night, I use my experience to select tracks that will resonate with the audience. I mix live, allowing me to adapt to the energy in the room, and I always keep my sets fresh by incorporating new sounds and influences. My goal is to create a seamless flow that keeps everyone engaged from start to finish.
