The Getonka Quartet takes you into the world of sensual interpretations of more and less well-known traditional songs: songs of ancestors revealed to new generations; songs of faraway places, which we have come to feel as our own, as well as songs of home, whose emotions can be felt by listeners from all over the world.
Getonka plays melodies of different genres, from sevdah to gypsy romances and starogradska music (old urban ethno from the Balkans) to rembetika and kletzmer. Each of the songs, in its own way, tells stories of love and longing.
Ensemble:
Getonka is a varied collective of well-coordinated and experienced musicians. It consists of a troubadour from the region of Prlekija - guitarist Bojan Rajh, Boštjan Benčič, an improviser and former member of hard-core bands, plays the double bass, violinist Maruša Jenič, creator of sentimental melodies, and singer Pashalina Pop-Gligorova with her heritage of a colourful operatic voice captured in Balkan sentiment.
