The Jazz Kings are now recognised as one of the most sought after jazz bands in Queensland and beyond and released their first CD Out of Nowhere in December 2020 and their second CD Blue Jazz was released in Jan 2024. (Both CDs have had airplay on both local, interstate and international radio stations). Although formed in 2017, each member has decades of professional experience in all aspects of the music industry as performers, entertainers, recording artists, teachers, backing/support to local, national and major stars, floorshows, and also in television, radio and media.
Although jazz is their main genre, they have an extensive blues and swing repertoire which has been demonstrated at many festivals and venues including Jumpers and Jazz Warwick, The Brisbane Jazz Club, The Tedder Ave Flower Festival, CSI Southport and have been booked on the Bravo Performing Arts cruise Oct 2024. The band opened the new Cotton Club at De-Vitos (March 2022) and were reviewed as "The Jazz Kings are capable of conjuring the grit of the blues, the swing attitude of the big band era and the ache of ’60s soul - Frazer Goodman - Jazz Cabaret Variety". The Jazz Kings can also be booked as a 6 piece with resident vocalist Nicole Parker-Brown.
We specialize in setting the perfect mood for any occasion with a comprehensive repertoire from jazz greats such as Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter and many many others. The band features Peter Uppman (trumpet and vocals), Gordon Matheson (guitar), John Conley (bass ), Jose McLaughlin from Gerry and the Pacemakers (keys and vocals) and Rod Ford (drums and vocals). Nicole Parker-Brown is our resident female vocalist if a 6 piece is required.

Full PA preferred with sound technician. However we do supply a full PA sound system with our drummer as sound engineer. Must have good access to power and a place for band to change etc (sometimes called a green room!). Refreshments are always welcome. We need a stage large enough to accommodate 6 musicians with instruments. Free carparking, bottled water and access to meals if gig over 3 hours.
Location, access for loading/unloading, air conditioned if indoors, suitable power outlets, seating capacity, if any sound restrictions, other facilities available for band such as a green room.
Yes we can bring our own PA system as well as a simple lighting rig.
Yes we can provide pre-recorded music in between sets but no DJs.
We performed at many memorable events including a private birthday party at Bundaberg which featured Morgan Freeman, The Royal Pines corporate event with about 300 people, and the Bravo Performing Arts Cruise for 7 nights on the Carnival Luminosa October 2024

The Jazz Kings formed in 2017 made up of professional musicians with decades of experience, working with television, radio, movies, musicals, session players and backing big stars. In January 2024 we released our 2nd album Blue Jazz and as with our first album, Out of Nowhere, we have experienced radio airplay worldwide.
Django Reinhart, Miles Davis, Hoagy Carmichael, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Van Morrison, and many other jazz and blues greats. Very hard to pick the greatest song of all time as there are so many, however, What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong is a very big favourite.
Standard is 3 sets x 45 minutes with 20-30 min breaks. However this will be negotiable depending on event and what the client wants
Yes we have done many outdoor events including the Tedder Ave Flower Festival for 2 days, Jumpers and Jazz, and other smaller festivals.
Absolutely. We are happy to play whatever the client wants. We love doing themed events, especially Gatsby nights and have even done Elvis shows. The band are very versatile.
