Quick Bio
JL (John Luther) works as a freelance drummer & music educator. Along with having taught just under 1000 students face to face, he continues to display a signature ‘pocket' at various music festivals, venues, and recording studios on the East Coast (USA).
Mr Claybourne’s an alum of the Lexington High School (MA) music program (previously directed by Jeff Leonard), (HBCU) JCSU International Institution of Sound, Funk Phi Mob drum line, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, and member of the Percussive Arts Society.
He’s presented clinics at various schools from MA to NJ. JL has also served as a replacement adjudicator for the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE), and Guitar Center’s National “Drum Off” Competition.
Mr Claybourne is a former student of Alan Dawson, John Ramsay, Kenwood Dennard, Steve Wilkes, Jackie Santos, Larry Finn, Dave “yP” Cowan, and Poogie Bell among others.
