I play upbeat, happy covers spanning from 60s to present day (with slightly more focus on songs from the 90s onwards). I play classic hit songs with unique verve and energy, featuring lots of 'live lounge' style covers which get crowds singing and dancing along! Genres include pop/rock/indie/R and B/hip hop/singer/
-songwriter/more.
I'm a songwriter by trade - I write songs for other artists and sometimes for myself - I'm an originals artist under the name 'Garvie' and you can find me on an Spotify/Apple Music and everywhere else, and my music has been played on BBC Radio 6 (Tom Robinson called one of my tunes an 'irresistable earworm'), BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and London Live amongst others.
I love playing covers gigs because it's such a pleasure to be able to add something to people's big events that are so important to them. Seeing audiences of all kinds connecting with the songs and singing and dancing along makes it all worthwhile, so I try to do all I can to get the crowd involved when it's a party gig, but I'm equally happy to be more of a 'background' musician and set the mood at dinner parties, wedding receptions and corporate events when this is required. Because I'm so keen to make sure you're hearing the songs you want to hear, I'm more than happy to learn new tunes for your event to make sure I'm getting it exactly right - I leave nothing up to chance and always confirm setlists ahead of time to ensure that you're getting exactly what you want.
In terms of experience, I've played covers gigs big and small all over the uk ranging from corporate parties for companies like HSBC alongside smaller birthday parties and surprise engagements where it's just me, the bride and the groom there. I've played at Ronnie Scott's, Kensington Roof Gardens, Wilton's Music Hall and loads more - I've done international gigs all around Europe and in the US too! Because of all of this experience I'm confident playing in front of any crowd size, so however big or small your event is, I'm confident that I can handle it.
I usually just need a plug socket and a small space to play in (it can be really small if you're pushed for space). My amplification system is battery powered, so if you don't have power available then it can be used outside!
I usually ask for 45 minutes to set up but if schedules require it I can set up in about 15 minutes.
