About / Biography

Hi,

My name is Jinyu Xiong, I go by John Smith. I'm a magician based at Manhattan, New York.

There are 3 types of magic shows that I can provide you. The first is a "stand up" show. This would involve me standing in front of part of (or your entire) crowd and doing a 30, 40 or 60 minute comedy magic show. I can design the show to be just for kids, just for adults, or for a mixed audience. Many of the tricks involve people from the audience coming up onto the stage area and being directly involved in the magic. Please rest assured that no audience member is embarrassed or asked to do anything they do not want to do.

The second type of magic available is called "Walk-around." This is typically done at larger parties where groups of people are gathering in “pockets” around the room (such as tables in a banquet hall or cocktail parties.) In this type of magic, I walk around from group to group (whether they are sitting or mingling) and do 5-10 minutes of magic for each group. In this case, the magic is much more “close up” and personal. This is also an effective method of getting smaller groups of people to come together interact with each other to watch the magic (which in turn gets them to get to know each other better.)

You could have a combination of the 2 types of magic (walk-around + stand-up). The benefit to having both is that your guests will get to meet me during the walk-around portion and create a “buzz” about the stand-up show before it even starts. We could do the stand-portion before the walk-around but I have found doing the walk-around first helps to build up the stand-up show and have a great impact on the overall event.

The third type is virtual magic. In this type of magic, you don't even need to step out of your room, you can already experience magic in your hand. You can be literally anywhere, anytime, all you need is a good internet connection and some regular objects that'll be involved in the magic. Then you can enjoy magic at the comfort of your home over a zoom meeting.

The price of the show depends on how many people are going to be watching the magic and what type of magic you want. My stand-up show can be priced and structured to run 30, 40 or 60 minutes and the walk-around magic is booked by the hour. Please call me to discuss specifics once you have a rough estimate on the number of guests you will have at your event.
