Kilcannon Irish Band is a high-energy group of experienced and talented musicians. The band play an eclectic mixture of contemporary and traditional Irish music in a unique and lively style.
Kilcannon was formed in March 2016 by former Shebeen Irish Band member Charlie Mullarkey. The aim was to establish a dynamic, unique and upbeat sound by bringing together experienced and talented musicians who respected the traditions of Irish folk-music. At the same time, the band are always searching for originality in both interpretation and delivery.
The Kilcannon band members have a wealth of experience in all genres of music including rock, R&B, blues, metal, classical, folk, punk and jazz and have been performing for decades all around the world. This mix of influences and experience has resulted in a unique sound that continues to develop with every passing day.
Charlie Mullarkey – vocals, mandolin/12-String Guitar/bodhran/harmonica.
Tommy Casey – guitar and vocals.
Seamus O’Leary – bass guitar/bass ukelele/guitar/vocals.
Brian O’Lynn – fiddle.
The Kilcannon repertoire is generally traditional Irish songs and tunes played by the likes of: The Dubliners, The Chieftains, The Fureys, Planxty and The Clancy Brothers. There are also more contemporary songs from the likes of Ed Sheeran, The Pogues, Steve Earle, The Corrs, Saw Doctors, Mike Denver, Nathan Carter, The Waterways and Goats Don’t Shave. Kilcannon Irish Band also has the ability to provide dance music and calling for Ceilidh events and weddings if required. It should be noted that Kilcannon is not a ceilidh band. When requested, the band can insert a limited number (maximum 5) called dances into their normal sets.
The band provides all fully PAT certified sound equipment and stage lighting (if required). The band also has full Public Liability Insurance.
