Callihan is a music traditionalist. He plays a mixture of "people's music" and improvisational originals based in collective improvisation. His creativity is influenced by diverse sources like Bob Dylan, John Hyatt, Jerry Garcia and the Guthries, Woody and Arlo. Callihan seeks to examine every corner of the mind, through his music.
Since releasing his first album in "Closer to Fossil", Callihan has six additional albums to his credit. He is a steady presence on the American /folk and blues scene across the United States and Canada. He plays over 200 shows a year including national festivals, and local venues. Callihan was the featured artist at “Woodsong's Radio Hour,” and the Bluebird Cafe in a Nashville.
Callihan has opened for David Loggins, Brian Vander Ark and Hot Tuna. He has shared the stage with Larry McCray, Don Schlitz and many more, He describes his style as a “Dark Americana Blues”, and because of this, his fans have dubbed his sound as "Ear Candy for the Soul"
