About / Biography

My name is Lemuel "Lem" Clark and I am a native of New Orleans, currently living in Los Angeles, CA. I have been playing drums professionally for over 20 years.

Like so many other great mucisians and artists, I developed my foundation playing in the church at the age of 4. As I grew older and continued to develop in my craft, I began to receive opportunities outside of church which allowed me to become well versed in other styles of music such as funk, smooth jazz, R&B, hip hop, rock and soul.

I have gigged locally as well as toured in and out of the country for many years. I have a reputation of being very easy to work with, bringing fun and positive energy to every space that I am invited into. I am always looking to expand in different musical circles as I gain new opporunities to further my career as a drummer.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been playing drums all of my life. (since 3 years old) I grew up playing in church and when I was 21 I started a cover band that played parties, weddings and corporate gigs. That was my introduction into the gigging world. Since them I have played for many cover bands and original artists.

Stevie Wonder's music influenced me tremendously. As by Stevie Wonder my favorite song of all time.

30-45 minutes is my typical set up time. I like to arrive early so I don't have to rush.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I LOVE performing outside!!!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Lots of energy and they are impressed with my ability to retain the musical arrangements.

What does a client get when they hire you as a drummer?

When you book me to play drums, you get 20+ years of experience as a professional drummer. I am very thorough when it comes to knowing the music. I am true to the music and not a show boat drummer...very much a team player. However, if the opportunity is there to stretch out, I am more than glad to. I love good vibes and positive energy and that's what I bring to every room I enter into. It's all about doing what we love while having fun and making a living.
