Michael Levin Sesega (Levi) is the musical architect and songwriter behind the Lights On Project. Born and raised in Samoa, Levi is now based in Auckland but is also a regular on the Darwin music scene. Levi's musical influences include the likes of David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Queen and The Beatles. His original material is truly genre-spanning in both construct and delivery and his sound encompasses folk, blues, jazz, rock and even a smattering of country and pop. Levi’s charismatic and captivating stage presence is somewhat juxtaposed to his intensely private and reserved off-stage nature. This makes him a rather mysterious and alluring character.
Levi’s first single, Mirror Man, was produced by internationally acclaimed producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia, Opshop, Melanie C, Super Furry Animals and The Feelers). 3 further singles were produced by Black Dog Recording Studios in Auckland and more recording is to come as Levi has a huge body of work.
Levi’s music is unique and diverse with songs that touch the soul and attempt to unpick the very nature of human existence. His lyrics encourage self-awareness, self-development, introspection and compassion. Whether playing solo or fronting a band, Levi’s voice is its very own instrument. His powerful, honest and emotional vocal tones capture the attention and paint a very vivid picture for any listener.
This is music from the soul, to the soul.
