The Reggae Dove aka Shashe has been writing songs since the 1980s. She has performed with various bands including Eye Witness, all women Just Desserts (formed at Lewisham Academy of Music), Afro fusion bands Ickme and Ibile as well as UK based jazz combos.
Shashe started a collaboration with producer, arranger and percussionist Brother James Trinidad in 1997.
Together they recorded with accomplished musicians such as Brian Jackson (Gil Scott Heron’s long time musical partner) Trevor Murrell (Wham, Sade) Gus Isidore (Seal) and Ronny Drayton (Nona Hendrix) as well as some top UK based reggae musicians, culminating in the album Reggae Dove In Flight which was officially launched at Catch A Fire club, Brixton, March 2017
Shashe has performed at Ireland’s Electric Picnic, One Love Festival UK, Reggae Fridays at Culture Mix in Reading, clubs both in London and New York, and has been featured on radio shows such as Dennis Bovell’s Dub On Air and Debbie Golt’s Outerglobe on Resonance Radio.
In 2023, Shashe started performing solo at Temple of Arts and Music clubs in London and putting on the Dove & Lion Variety shows.
In 2024, Shashe was joined by bassist Guilhem Alandry, drummer Chris Bloomfield and flautist Rebeca Chu to interpret songs from the album, and more. Recently Shashe has performed solo at a variet of clubs and with band at TAM clubs, Biddle Brothers and Camden Eye in London.
