About / Biography

We are The Long Players, Northern England’s Premier Rock & Roll Wedding Band

We are a wedding band. We are a function band. We are a party band. We are the band to help make your occasion properly special. We specialise in Rock & Roll covers, vintage and modern favourites. Our repertoire of music, developed over the many years that we have been playing together is perfectly designed to get your guests on the dance floor and to keep them there.

Previous bookings have included weddings, birthday parties and corporate functions and a good time has always been had by all. But don’t just take our word for it, read our testimonials for client feedback.

We are based in Cumbria & Leeds and while most of our bookings are in the North of England (Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, County Durham, Northumberland, Liverpool, Manchester) and southern Scotland, we will consider bookings nationwide.

We typically perform as 4-piece function band (singing over two guitars, bass and drums) but we are just as happy playing as a trio, duo or doing solo acoustic sets. We’ll happily take requests and have learned and performed the music for many first dances at weddings. We can also provide DJ sets.

We provide all the equipment required, and our experience and professionalism means that you can leave all the music side of things to us, and concentrate on enjoying your special day. To set your mind at ease, you can relax in the knowledge that we are fully insured for public and product liability and have all of our equipment annually PAT tested.

We have years of experience of playing events of all shapes and sizes, including weddings, corporate functions and birthday parties. We’ve played in hotels, tipis, barns, castle courtyards, cellars, rooftops and Cornish coastal clifftops and can adapt to boost the mood of wherever we find ourselves.

Although our sets have a focus on Rock & Roll, they always include a smattering of songs from the 50s through the present. Check out our song list to get a better idea of what we play.

We most commonly perform as 4-piece, guitars, bass, drums and singing. We can also happily adapt to suit your event and budget to perform as a trio, duo or solo act.

All lifelong students of music, we have years of playing together. We can instinctively react to the mood of the event and get people onto the dance floor. We are a covers band built to make you move!

Meet the Band:

LEE
Lee sings most of the lead vocals and plays lead guitar. He’s been obsessive about music ever since his dad taught him his first few chords on a cronky old acoustic, aged 5. When not being a Long Player, he also writes and records his own material and looks after a chunk of the Lake District for the RSPB.

HARRY
Harry plays rhythm guitar, and shares lead lead vocal duties with Lee. He writes and records his own material under the moniker of Emil Sparkes, cooks fine food and blogs about it, lives in the fine city of Leeds, makes cartoons and writes film scores.

JAMIE
As the drummer, Jamie is the backbone of the Long Players, driving us all forward and keeping everyone dancing. Jamie and Harry grew up playing in bands together and the musical instinct they share helps the whole band to react to the mood of the evening. Jamie holds a degree in music and teaches drumming in and around Leeds.

DAN
Dan is the most musical of us. His rock solid bass playing only gives the smallest hint of the creative genius that lies within. He composes film scores, writes critical reviews of fine art exhibitions, plays very fine piano and lends his sonorous baritone voice to several operatic groups. He sports very rock & roll glasses.
