NOTE: I also have a wide selection of original ambient modern pieces with classical and jazz influences for background music.
I can set up just about anywhere for stationary events. For driving piano events, I will need sidewalks or pavement. Indoor events should be in a fairly spacious venue with at least a 30 inch doorway, and at least 4ft of space is needed to pass between obstacles while driving.
For indoor events, I will need to know about the entryway, if there are any level changes above 3 ft for the stage or for stairs entering the performance area. For outdoor events, I would need to know a bit about the terrain.
The piano is completely self contained for driving services. I will bring a PA if needed for amplification during a stationary event.
I typically do not take breaks, and those that I do take are short. Typically I'm very excited to get back on the piano and play! It does not take me long to unload and setup. Typically I am on the piano and playing in 5 to 10 minutes. I can play Spotify through a PA system during infrequent breaks if needed.
I performed during Asheville's Pride festival last year for 6 hours. Being surrounded by all the incredible art and friendly people in such a unique atmosphere was incredible. Its certainly one of those moments I will never forget. I learned many songs specifically for the event, which went over very well and earned me a ton of praise.
There's so many types of events that keep me excited and inspired. I love playing the driving piano for pretty much any event, especially those with themes or costumes. Stationary events like wedding or restaurants offer me the opportunity to play more challenging pieces and really step into my creativity.
My performing experience started out on the streets of Asheville NC. I have always played piano, and love doing it. I decided one day that I was going to take a full size upright acoustic piano out into the world and give it my all. Since that time many years ago, I have played at bars, hotels, festivals, weddings, and even play at a church now for service and special events.
Some of the artists that constantly inspire me are queen, the doors, many of todays modern pianists, and many of the great classical composers of the romantic era.
I typically arrive an hour before performing for the majority of gigs. It only takes me 7 minutes to unload the piano and begin my performance on flat ground. For events with more challenging terrain, technical hurdles, or those that require amplification I would arrive a bit earlier, and would require more time to setup. I have a plethora of songs at my disposal, and can typically play for 3 to 4 hours without repition or too much fatigue.
I love performing outside!
I'm happy to learn a few specific song for events. I'm also able to play the songs I already know in a different style to fit the event. One event I performed for was circus themed. I not only learned several songs for this, I felt so inspired that I wrote a few of my own.
Many of the clients I work for are impressed with my diverse repertoire. I have had a lot of people tell me that "everybody loved it". I mostly get people completely shocked at the driving piano saying "I thought I'd seen it all".
