Born on 1982, in the town of Guantanamo, Cuba, Lorenzo Maceo became interested in music at the young age of 8 years, influenced by his family and Cuban music bands.
In 1989, he began his musical studies at the School of Vocational Arts "Regino Eladio Boti Borreiro", after having gone through a rigorous selection process and he’s selected as first in the list of aspirants. It is then that his musical career began, in the art of piano with professor (Francis Gardner Ming). Lorenzo participated in competitions and workshops, and was awarded the third prize in the Provincial Music Competition "Rafael Inciarte" in 1990. In 1991 he participates in the Provincial Music Competition "K. Czerny " and won second prize. Later, in 1992, attracted by the sound of the saxophone and its beauty, he resolves to change his instrument and studied with great saxophone teachers (Jesus Fernandez) and (Leonardo Jay). While pursuing this specialization, he was awarded first prize in classical music and the grand prize for the interpretation of Cuban music in the Second Territorial Competition of Schools of Art "Regino E. Boti " in 1996. The following year he received a diploma for his participation in the Contest, First National Saxophone Workshop and was accepted at the Conservatory "Jose Maria Ochoa" in the province of Holguín, Cuba.
At the Conservatory Lorenzo continuously perfects his musical growth with the teacher (Eloy Granado) among other great masters of the nation. Meanwhile gaining professional experience as a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist musician soloist and professor of saxophone, in association with many musical projects: "Jazz combos", "popular Cuban music bands”, saxophone quartet of the conservatory José M. Ochoa, classical music soloist, accompanying pianist and chamber orchestra. Lorenzo concluded his studies at the conservatory in 2001, and interned at the Vocational School of Arts "Raúl Gómez García" as professor of saxophone and band practice that same year, being interrupted for military service in the Philharmonic Band of the State Military Council in Havana ,Cuba.
From the beginning, he already felt a need to write and compose his own songs, and that's when the opportunity emerged in 2003 in the city of Havana; here Lorenzo starts working as a composer, vocalist and instrumentalist with great musicians of the Cuban culture, (Vania Borges), (Michel Masa), (Tirso Duarte) and (Juan Antonmarché-stump).
Seven years later, he decides to reside in Portugal and is currently working with musicians and musical projects: (Banda Philharmonic Povoa de Varzim), (Bruno Gomes) (John Bota), (Daniel Gomes Jazz Quartet), (Combo A School Jazz Port) (Band Allma)( Jafumega) with Mario Barreiros, Pedro Barreiros, Zé Nogueira, Luís Portugal, Jorge Palma, Pedro Abrunhosa, while also working as a professor of Extracurricular Activities (Musical Expression) and professor of saxophone at the music school "Maestro Samuel Santos."
