For electric violin with backing tracks I require an electrical socket.
For playing solo iddle ceilidhs, I require at least two sockets.
I have no technical requirements for solo acoustic violin
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.
We recently played for Edinburgh University's Chem Ball and it seemed like everyone got up for all the dances. Every part of dancefloor and carpet was danced on. The students were fantastic and so enthusiastic. It was a brilliant night.
I love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are my favourite!
For solo acoustic gigs, I arrive half an hour beforehand to condition the violin and make sure the strings are in tune.
For electric violin + backing tracks I arrive one hour in advance to set up my sound equipment and violin.
I usually play for guests arriving, wedding entrance, signing of register and first walk as newly weds. Then drinks reception performance is usually up to an additional two hours of playing.
For solo fiddle ceilidhs, I require one hour to set up and one hour at the end to dismantle and unload. Performance time for a ceilidh is for a block of up to four hours of entertainment before midnight and includes disco if required.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
Yes, clients can ask for specific dances, or for the disco they can sent a playlist.
Previous clients have loved the surprise rock twist that we bring to the music, the fact that we give instructions for all the dances, and how we encourage everyone up to dance.
