The Shire is an Irish traditional and Celtic music band based in Italy.
We're always up to play around in pubs, concerts, festivals and fleadh.
Somebody says we're the best Irish band for weddings and private parties in Italy... we don't know if we're the best but let's say that with over 25 years of experience in Irish weddings, we became quite expert of how entertain the clients and how satisfy their request and help them to organize the musical part of the best day of their life.

We're specialized in traditional Irish music, especially pub sessions, in fact though we have our playlist we tend not to follow it strictly and ad-libbing it according to the atmosphere, the guests, and special requests. As a matter of fact we can accept any request that concerns traditional Irish music, speaking about songs, tunes and instruments; and if there are guests that want to dance, sing or play we will be more than happy to back them up.
We basically are a guitar/voice, fiddle, flute and accordion but mind that we can add musicians to the base line up according to your taste (i.e. we've been asked to add a bodhran player, a singer or a uilleann piper).

The service we propose are essentially three:

• Church ceremony - four musicians, no sound system, repertoire to be selected with clients. Sometimes clients ask us to change instruments, like for example a celtic harp player and singer or a Scottish piper in full attire for entrance and exit. In this case, in order to satisfy the client's requests we can direct them to those musicians that are still friends of us and price may vary accordingly.
• Cocktail/aperitif/drink reception - 4 musicians that will play for one hour or more depending on the venue necessities, we use no sound system.
• Welcome party, wedding night, after party - four musicians and sound system included, we usually play one hour and half but we're not finnicky and we can play more according to the venue time restrictions.
  
  All these services can be turned into a céilí dance night with the help of our local and certified local Irish and Scottish dance school that can provide callers as we're trained to back dancers and callers up..
