I specialize in composition and music theory. In my works you will find instances of the Neapolitan cadences, the whole tone scale, solfeggio and arpreggio, acquired sterile dissonance, attempts at multiple counterpoint and canon...in terms of emotions you will find agony, wrath and pain...moods like frantic, whimsical and docile.... hints of blissful elixir pouring from heaven....confusion...chaos...et cetera...
A guest house named "Bononi" run by my retired parents in the Jorhat town of the Assam province of India is currently my shelter.
I was able to deliver two quartets namely 'Stigmata' and 'Invoking Catharsis' from the guest house. These were recorded by Northern Film Orchestra, Manchester, UK .
Albeit, my career is currently frozen because I have four frozen works :
The first three works are frozen because they require large 22 stave printed sheets and on top of that the process will be sufficiently more severe on the psyche because it is the first time I will be handling 22 stave... quartets are much easier.
The most appropriate environment to compose is where I will have no distractions for at least 30 continuous hours and I do not need to run errands of a household.
I was rather looking for research opportunities in the likes of Music Psychology, Liturgical significance of Baroque Music, Consequences of music corrupting into genres, Propagation and momentum etiquettes, The least severe tension (flat7), the most severe tension (tritone),...multiple counterpoint and canon, critical analysis of the prominent works of Handel and Sibelius, ... et cetera...
In the ideal conditions it takes approximately 5 months to write a 30 minute long quartet and 9 months to write a 1 and half hour long symphony...
Otherwise I have trained in drumkit performance for 7 years, marching snare for 5 years and currently practicing violin for 5 and half years and keyboard for 1 year...
My compositions are intended for stimulating the subconscious and resolving conflict within the self...
Quartet 'Stigmata'
Quartet 'Invoking Catharsis'
Improvisation in violin, keyboard, drum kit and marching snare
Basic exercises in violin, keyboard, drum kit and marching snare
Transcription of the full score and the parts...For a 22 stave work, the parts can be transcribed using software such as Sibelius and printed on A4 sized papers but the full score that the conductor will use will have to be printed at a printing press upon large sheets and then hard bound...
Requirements to compose are as follows :
1. A big sound proofed room with a big table
2. Stationery
3. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner...
4. Regular interactions with the customer to discuss the proposed themes and average structure of the work. Preferably in person (not remotely)
The nature of the acoustics... If the venue is too big for the natural acoustics to reach the furthest audience, a good PA system and mics will be necessary to make sure everyone hears even the most quiet of nuances...
Whether the venue provides audio equipment and the services of a sound engineer...
Whether the venue provides security for important delegates in case the audience turns into a mob like it happened at the USA premiere of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring"
No
No. Much rather use a projector and a screen and display pictures pertaining to the political interests of the sponsor of the event.
The best gig I ever did as a drummer of the Assamese death metal band named 'Shades of Retribution' was at the end of academic year celebrations of National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam...
The performance started at 2 AM in the morning but the crowd still had tremendous energy to respond to us after every song...
It was the best sound I ever got at a live gig...
But now I consider it a sin to have been part of a death metal band and it is a thing of the past and still haunts me so let us not talk about it...
My favourite type of event is where there will be Music Conservatory professors, students, clergy and delegates and if possible the Bishop of the Diocese where the event is, officers of the armed forces, democrats and republicans, ambassadors, et cetera seated in the audience
The other kind of favourite event is where there will only be mature composers in the audience... such as Dame Judith Weir, the current master of King's music and special balcony seats for members of the Royal Windsor and Cavendish families...
I had a small 5 octave digital keyboard and got private lessons since I was 12 years old.. regularly performed the keyboard and drumkit at school events... then came the death metal band... we released one vernacular album (released a 1000 CDs of it) and later got famous gigging around at festivals in the states of North East of India and also an event at Hyderabad, a southern city...my parents were circumspect about getting me a drumkit... they knew it would deteriorate my academics and I have no formal educational qualifications after High School apart from credits of a two year Diploma in Drumkit performance at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music in the southern state of Tamil Nadu...
George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, Jean Sibelius, Anton Bruckner, Amy Beach, Rimsky Korsakow, Smetena, Chopin. Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Dame Judith Weir et cetera...Unfortunately all of them left the planet a long time ago apart from Dame Judith Weir...
Regarding the greatest song of all time I have not sufficient knowledge of that genre of music...
I have no interest in a formal degree because as a student they will try to align me with the priorities of the music industry instead of the industry accommodating my propaganda... If I get a research opportunity then my mind may change...
Otherwise I prefer the direct support of the Anglican Church through private tuition and holistic training with other parishioners. I reckon it will feel like a spiritual cleansing
Yes indeed.. I plead and pledge allegiance to Our Beloved Monarch HRH Charles Philip Arthur George...
Allotting 4 hours into setup and sound check , the performance time is usually afternoon or evening
If it is a symphony we must perform all the movements without any breaks...
If it is an Oratory we get 15 minutes intermission between each part...
A quartet which usually has two to three movements will have to be performed without any breaks...
My works for the marching snare regiment 'Taboo' do not require much equipment except a small recording setup and are meant for indoor performances..
If the duration of the work is greater than 2 hours it will be most appropriate to host the event at a weekend...
Yes... as long as there is a shade to protect the electrical equipment and musicians and personnel..
The client has a say throughout the entire duration of composing .. I will regularly meet the client and provide many alternate options for each theme and ask which he or she likes best...
The previous clients who employed us as a death metal band to perform at festivals were deeply satisfied with the quality of the performance... they usually celebrate with us after the performance....
I have not had any classical performances yet apart from the recordings with Northern Film Orchestra, Manchester.. But me and the orchestra are both suppliers... I supply the score... they supply the musicians, production and promotion in social media...
