My name is Ana Cristina Afonso Vaz, I'm 28 years old, belly dancer and fusion dancer.
I started dancing 18 years ago, I was 10 years old when I started taking Belly Dance classes and it was love at first sight. I started very young doing shows with the group I had at the time and after that I continued solo until today. I travelled a lot from north to south of the country and abroad, I even did many collaborations with various types of artists, singers, dancers, producers/dj's etc. Everything was an experience and some were lessons in learning and preparation, because the truth is that not everything is a bed of roses and along the way we come across many obstacles, but the important thing is to be true to ourselves, to our principles and not to give up! I want to pass on the message that we are all capable of expressing ourselves through dance, even as a form of therapy,
Belly Dance is an ancient dance, unfortunately even today there are many people who do not know its origin and evolution over the years. The "Dance" is one of the oldest arts in the history of mankind and should be treated with due respect, because it has passed generations and each culture and ethnicity has its own and with different meanings, so it is part of all of us ❤️
Belly Dance is based on undulating, exotic, mystical, sensual movements, but also very engaging and hypnotic, graceful and delicate. It is also danced with various types of materials such as: veil / scarf, wings, baton, sword, fans (something more modern), among others, in fact the imagination is the limit! My Fusion is the junction, in this case, of Belly Dance with Contemporary and Tribal Belly Dance. In my dances I always try to involve these 3 types of dance and they work very well. Unlike Belly Dance, Tribal Fusion is much slower and hypnotic, even the music is less traditional, usually slower and maybe a little "obscure" shall we say, but a beautiful dance! I never do choreography to dance alone, I think it takes all the magic out of the improvisation. ☺️
