Nicky Phillips is an established acoustic singer and songwriter based in Cheshire, UK. Singing from a young age, Nicky started performing young and continued with this to study both classical and popular vocal studies at degree level. She now performs intimate stripped-back covers as well as regularly gigging with her original music - mostly on her acoustic guitar, but sometimes on her portable piano.
Nicky has performed at prestigious venues in London, such as the Southbank Centre, The Troubadour and The Bedford. In the North, Nicky has performed at Matt & Phred's, Night & Day Café and The Fitzgerald, to name a few. Along with performing around the UK, she has also had the opportunity to perform at a wedding in the Czech Republic and on stage in far away locations like Austin, Texas and Niamey, Niger. Nicky has also performed at many outdoor events, such as Knutsford Music Festival and Alderford Lake.
Nicky brings her own style and sensitivity when performing covers which makes her music perfect for weddings, events and bars; it is suitable for both entertaining guests or for quieter background music. Nicky is always willing to work on new song requests (with notice), she has previously re-imagined a TV theme tune for a couple's first dance.
Nicky primarily performs on acoustic guitar, but can provide a mixture of guitar and piano covers as well, upon request.
If providing own sound system:
Access to at least one power socket required, ideally two.
Car parking/loading space is required as near to the venue entrance as possible please.
If performing outdoors, cover or an alternative performance space must be provided it rains.
I need to know where I will be able to unload and park at the venue, you can provide this information if you are hosting an event there or I can contact the venue directly. Any special directions if your event is being held at a property that is tricky to find (What3Words is great for this).
PA system included for UK gigs: 2 large speakers with a mixing desk - ideally two power sockets are required, but can setup with one.
Option for floor spot lights and twinkle lights (these are not included as standard, but upon request). Potential for PA system transport overseas.
Yes, I'm happy to provide music between my sets if you let me know - I can provide a playlist or you can send me one on Spotify. For music to be played before/after my sets, this would need to be agreed in advance in regards to timings.
My best gig so far was my headline gig in Manchester as part of my first ever UK tour in May 2024 - it was lovely to share my music and also invite some other local musicians to perform some of my songs with me. Best venue to date has to be CCFN in Niamey, Niger - a gorgeous outdoor stage surrounded by the audience, performing as the sun was setting.
I love performing at any event - I feel so lucky to have a job that allows me to do what I love ! No gig is ever the same and that's what I enjoy.
I have been singing since I was very young. I started gigging in my late teens and haven't really stopped!
Call Me Al by Paul Simon is my favourite song of all time. My musical influences include Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling and Bon Iver.
Usual performance time is 2 x 45 minutes, however, I am able to cater for individual requirements including, but not limited to, 2 x 30 minutes, 3 x 30 minutes, 2 x 60 minutes.
Usual wedding performance: Music during ceremony (before, during and at the end), then 2 x 45 minutes during the welcome drinks prior to the wedding breakfast. This is just to give you an idea, I can perform at other points during your special day.
Approximate PA setup time is 30 minutes.
Yes! As long as it's discussed in advance I am happy to perform outside. I will need a power supply close by to the performance area and cover or an alternative performance area will need to be provided if it rains.
I am always happy to share an up to date repertoire list where clients can select songs they would like to hear (or songs they wouldn't like to hear). I am happy to learn up to 3 requests for most bookings, provided this is discussed at the time of booking and there is enough time before the event to learn these.
Previous clients describe how much they enjoy my varied repertoire - please check out the reviews to see what other lovely things people have said.
Yes! I write my own music as well. I perform covers at many events, but I am also a songwriter and perform my original music regularly at shows across the North West - I recently completed my first ever UK tour! I have previously had requests from clients to perform, amongst the cover songs, a specific original song as part of their event-it's always a nice surprise to be asked!
