Formed in 1965 the Midrod Ends created a substantial following in the South West becoming runners up in the Western Daily Press poll for ‘Best Band in the West’ in 1968 (we wuz robbed). In early 1970 the band recorded an album under the name Brainchild called "Healing of the Lunatic Owl" following the trend at the time of Brass 'Prog Rock'. The Album made the Luxembourg Charts in March 1970. This album was re released in 2010 and is still available.
In the days of restricted needle time the band played many BBC sessions for the likes of Johnny Walker, Terry Wogan and Annie Nightingale, and acquired a following in the London Club scene at the "Revolution", Scotch St James, Blaise's, Samantha's, and the Bag O' Nails. Touring Spain in 1970 as the backing band to sixties star Billie Davis (Tell Him/Want you to be my Baby/Angel of the Morning) they achieved further success.
In 1971 the band went their separate ways but in 2009 many of the original members met up to play a reunion gig at their home venue in Glastonbury. It went so well that we reformed and are still going today under the name THE NEW MIDROD ENDS. Since then as with all bands, members have come and gone but one of the original members remains.
