The Jazz group PAU VIGUER TRIO is a clear representative of what has been called "Mediterranean jazz". Pau Viguer (piano)
Xuso Barbera (double bass)
Felipe Cucciardi (drums).
This music is called “Mediterranean Jazz” because is influenced by various styles such as jazz, classical, pop, blues, flamenco, etc. In fact, the blending of different musical backgrounds is a clear objective to the group. The light of the Mediterranean is integrated into Pau's compositions that integrates jazz with all these kinds of music.
"Pau Viguer, the Melody and the Swing of the Mediterranean (...) Melodies of great lyricism (...) We could match Pau with Kenny Barron, Ramsey Lewis and Monty Alexander, which would produce a swing of great vitality "
(Santi Linares, JazzTK).
Pau Viguer was born in Valencia (Spain). He started studying piano at the age of seven. He obtained the highest degree of piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Valencia, and then he studied jazz with the Valencian pianists Ricardo Belda and Donato Marot as well as Vivian Leon (Cuba) , Ximo Tébar, Robert Rodríguez and New York-native John Serry.
Pau has been part of many groups of modern music, winning various prizes in the Valencian Region. He has performed on television shows playing live music. He made tours around Spain with the group "Revolver". He is well known in the Valencian Region.
"Both seasoned professionalism and youth in this magnificent work, a true jazz-like implosion."
(José Pruñonosa's, Jazz Zone)
"A Valencian musician with a great musical career (...) His album Arena is full of jazz and Latin rhythms. "
(Xisco Estellés, Valencia Express Diario).
"His compositions have a great quality and a wide range of colors and styles"
(Newspaper L´horta, Valencia)
"The pianist Pau Viguer offered a magnificent concert" (Magazine of the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia).

The group was selected as one of the best jazz formations in Spain and it performed in the JazzEñe 2017 festival, organized by the SGAE (Association of Spanish Authors and Editors) for international Festival promotors. They have played in different Jazz Festivals as Indrets Sonors (Valencia), Mosaics (Meliana), Alborajazz (Alboraia). His latest album “Dreaming” has been highly applauded by the Spanish press:
"He has earned the right to belong to a list of talented pianists who lead the jazz in Spain... In his area of expertise, he has gained a position showing firmness and quality, as evidenced by his three albums recorded between 2008 and 2013."
