Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I was part of a massed performance for the Queen at Balmoral Castle. As well i’ve done countless yet memorable Military mess dinners that have been incredIbly fun experiences

What's your favourite type of event?

I enjoy most of the events i do, but i quite enjoy doing weddings

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have 11 years of experience on pipes and have done everything from military parades to weddings. I started doing gigs early as a duty piper for mess dinners while i was in the Canadian Armed Forces

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

It’s quite hard to name one of any of these as i enjoy a lot of different styles of music

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Will need an average of 15-20 minutes prior to the performance for tuning

Are you happy to perform outside?

More than 50% of my gigs happen outside, especially graveside services and parades

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

If a client has a specific tune they would like me to play they should inform ASAP as i need to determine of it’s learnable within the time frame, or if it even can be played on bagpipes. We are likited in note range and cannot play many tunes that are not written for bagpipes

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

They have described me as professional and highly competent. And i strive to deliver an excellent sounding instrument and good well played music
