I am an experienced Bassist and Singer with exceptional Bass improvisation skills and listening ability. I have recorded on at least 10 Albums and performed some 750 times in Venues ranging from small to Concert Hall in and around the Calgary, Alberta, Canada area. Bands of note I have played in include The Quitters (1985-1991), Six Digit Fix (1991-1994), Ralph Boyd Johnson and The Ruckus (1994-2001), and Treblemaker (2014-2019). I am available for Studio and Road Work and am most comfortable playing Rock, Blues, Jazz or Country. My ability to figure out Bass Lines by Ear is exceptional and I try to achieve a mistake free performance and each and every Gig and Recording Session. I have worked under Proffessional Management before between 1994 and 2001 when the Bassist and Backing Singer for Ralph Boyd Johnson and The Ruckus. Ralph Boyd Johnson and The Ruckus were managed by Musicworks, Jann Arden's former Management Company. In my Music Career I have been able to experience being in Bands that have warmed up for major Acts such as Green Day, The Pursuit of Happiness, The Jeff Healey Band, and The Matthew Good Band. I have played on big stages in front of large Audiences, the biggest being a sold out McEwan Hall at the University of Calgary twice, that venue held about 2200 Concert/Cabaret Goers. Both McEwan Hall Gigs were as Bassist for The Quitters and include warming up for The Pursuit of Happiness, and as part of the Multi Band Rock Against Racism Cabaret in 1990. I also own top of the line equipment and offer 4 and 5 String, Fretless and Synth Bass as well as Lead and Backing Vocals.

Many other Rock, Blues, Jazz and Country Standards to numerous to recall in a 40 year career of playing in Bands in and around the Calgary Area. To hear examples of my playing, composing and recording abilities on Bass please listen to Local Independent Albums by The Quitters and Six Digit Fix.
I require a good safe power supply if using one of my own Amps, and if using a Backline House supplied Amp prefer Amps with power and reliability. Amps by SWR, Ampeg, Fender, Mark Bass and Galien Kruger are what I am use to and prefer to use in Live performance situations, and in Studio. I have many Basses to choose from and decide which Basses to bring depending on the Venue and Artist.
What time the Act is to start and stop for the Event, and do I or we get a Sound Check?
I can provide a 2150 watt PA system with 2 Main and 2 Monitor Speakers and a Bass Amp to fit any Gig, I own 5 Bass Amps and Speaker System of varying Wattages and Speaker Configurations for great Bass Sound weather in a Coffee Shop or Concert Hall.
No, I am a Single Freelance Bassist and Singer
A sold out McEwan Hall warming up for The Pursuit of Happiness when a Member of The Quitters in 1991. I also played with The Quitters at a sold out charity event at McEwan Hall, the 1991 Rock Against Racism Benefit Gig. I estimate 2200 people attended each of those Gigs.
Rock and Roll and Blues Concert Events.
750 Gigs with local Calgary Bands as well as about 10 Albums having recorded on with said Bands. My first Pro Gig was at Calgary's first Original music Venue of any note "Ten Foot Henrys" as part of a 50s and Rockabilly Cover band "The G Notes". In The Quitters we warmed up for Green Day in 1990 and The Pursuit of Happiness at McEwan Hall in 1991. As part of Ralph Boyd Johnson and The Ruckus I was able to warm up for The Jeff Healey Band twice, once in Calgary, and once in Edmonton. We were also able to warm up for Matthew Goode at The University of Calgary's Blue Banana Lounge in 1998.
Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Collective Soul. Nine Inch Nails, Metric, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and also Jazz and Blues Greats from the 20th and 21st century. I think the Greatest Song of all time is "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. It has all the Hallmarks of a Masterpiece of composition and performance. It started my love of Rock Music at age 12.
At most Venues I have played in Cover Bands in want 3 45 minutes Sets to be played throughout the night, starting at 9PM and ending at 1AM. That is what I am use to. As far as Recording goes I can be almost anywhere anytime.
Yes, I love to perform outside
Usually the repertoire list only but I do know many songs and have been in many situations were requests were required. In those situations I was able to make it through those
You are one of the best Bass Players I have ever seen, is a frequent and appreciated comment. You are a very solid and tight, and fast Bassist, and you sing with Passion and near perfect Pitch.
Halloween 1991 as the Headlining Act, as part of a 3 Band Bill, at The Night Gallery in Calgary while Bassist for The Quitters. The Venue was sold out with a long line of people dressed for Halloween down the long staircase at The Night Gallery & down the Sidewalk outside the Venue. I would estimate about 400 people had made it into the Venue by the time the Calgary Police Service raided the Venue for Over Capacity & Noise Violations & think that occurred about 2;00 AM. When the CPS asked the Bartender "where the Owner of the Club was ?" , he was on stage with The Quitters Singing some of the silliest songs Rock has to offer. Songs such as "Hang On Sloopy". "Louie Louie" and "Whooly Bully", come to mind. The Quitters all had dressed in stellar Costumes for Halloween including, a Vampire, Bride of Frankenstein, a Prison Convict with Striped Suit and Hat, and The Blues Brothers. The Club Owner was dressed as Uncle Sam for his time up on Stage with the Band, I laugh about it now!
