About / Biography

Randy McGravey is a diverse and entertaining solo guitarist/vocalist with over a decade of experience. He also can perform as a 4-piece band. Specializing in 90's rock, Randy covers a variety of artists including Tom Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, Matchbox 20, Sublime, Bob Marley, and dozens more.

Randy is a graduate from UMass Lowell's Music program and has been a professional musician for years. Randy can also perform as an instrumental guitarist or ukulele player for ceremonies/cocktail hours.

For almost a decade, Randy has been playing weddings professionally over New England. Aside from gigging, Randy has had international success writing music for hundreds of TV shows, and is an accomplished author of over 7 instructional music books.

4th of July Parade in Natick, MA on a float for thousands of people (2 different years)


What's your favourite type of event?

I love all events, but particularly weddings and private parties


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have more than 7 years performing weddings as a solo musician, and with several wedding bands. I started performing while attending college for music and have been doing it ever since.


Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Tom Petty is one of my favorite artists to perform, he has so many classic and well known songs and the crowds really vibe with it.

Setup time: 30 minutes
Performance time varies, but is typically 90 minutes to 3 hours


Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as it has an electrical source, flat ground and coverage


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I am happy to play selected songs from my setlist, and a few custom requests per event if needed.

Fun and entertaining, yet casual. My performance can work well as a main source of entertainment, or background music.
