About / Biography

All bops and bangers. No skips. From the greatest of Motown, nostalgic 90s, 2000s Indie Rock, to the Pop hits of today, Relay Relay keeps a crowd of all ages singing along. This husband-and-wife team has been wowing audiences with their big sound and their unique set list for over 10 years of making music professionally together. Jamie handles the electric and acoustic guitar and layers in perfect vocal harmonies, while Hannah is the queen of multitasking, delivering a powerful lead vocal all while playing keys, synth and keeping that pocket groove with the kick and snare using electronic drum pads. You have to see it to believe it!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least 8 feet by 10 feet that is completely flat flooring or paved. We require one outlet for power and one parking space.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we're completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

We've performed in France for the FIMU (Le Festival International de Musique Universitaire) festival in Belfort, FR as the only band from United States that year. It was amazing to perform internationally and meet so many amazing people (and eat some of the best food in the world!)

What's your favourite type of event?

We love playing at all sorts of events but we really fit great for many private/corporate events. Every instrument on our stage runs through our PA system without external amps or speakers so our sound and volume is very controllable. It's much like playing music from Spotify through the PA system.

Many clients have expressed to us how appropriate our volume was for the specific room we were in that evening. Because of our controlled audio and proficiency as a duo, we often get the comment from clients that their guests were very impressed with the music; stating they didn't realize live musicians were performing and thought it was a recording.

We also love playing weddings. The guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We met in college studying classical music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and have been performing together for over 10 years. We love performing and take pride in the fact that we play all our music live and do not have any looping or backing tracks on our set.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Stevie Wonder is one the greatest of all time, such an amazing musician!

What is unique about your performance?

We strive to achieve the perfect volume for every new space we perform. Every instrument on our stage runs through our PA system without external amps or speakers so our sound and volume is very controllable. It's much like playing music from Spotify through the PA system.

Many clients have expressed to us how appropriate our volume is for the specific room we are in that evening. Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 1.5 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 3 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade and covering overhead when possible, as well as a flat level surface that is paved and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 5 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe us as a high energy duo that loves to get the audience on their feet dancing. They often comment on how much they enjoyed the songs we chose in our set list for the evening.
