World Champion Piper Robert Watt is from Northern Ireland and has achieved many of the greatest awards for solo piping and pipe band playing worldwide.
His diversity and talent represents Celtic music from the ancient Piobaireachd to the modern day bagpipe playing.
As well as the Great Highland Bagpipe, Robert also plays a range of Irish whistles and the bellows blown Lowland and also Border Pipes.
Some of Robert’s achievements in solo piping competition and performances include the prestigious Highland Society of London’s Silver Medal for Piobaireachd, Eight times winner of the MacCrimmon Trophy at the world's greatest Celtic festival in Lorient, Brittany, several All Ireland titles and many others at highland games in the UK and around the world. Robert has travelled and performed throughout the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia.
Robert has also played for a number of years as part of the world famous Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band at the highest level in grade one competition.
When not on the road performing and instructing, Robert enjoys living near Innsbruck in the Tyrolean alps in Austria where he finds much inspiration for many of his compositions. It's indeed here where the popular tune amongst bagpipe players across the world 'The Green Hill’s of Tyrol’ was composed by Pipe Major John MacLeod from the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders during the Crimean war.
Robert is a diverse musician having played on stages from arena size venues to private home events. He is also on demand as a session recording artist.
Robert has been a full time professional musician for more than 20 years and is available to travel worldwide. Robert has several different Highland Dress Attire to suit any occasion which includes Full Highland Dress, Day Wear Dress with both ancient hunting muted tartan and tweed, and modern brighter colour tartan as well as black tie Prince Charlie style evening wear.
