Robert Woodward PhD is a saxophonist, flautist and clarinettist equally at home in the classical, jazz or popular music genres.
Rob is a dynamic performer with a vast experience of events all shapes and sizes. Whatever he is doing he is trying to make it fun! His repertoire includes an array of “saxophone favourites”, well loved cover songs, dance/pop tracks and unexpected jazz versions of classical staples. He performs with piano, guitar, small ensemble or large band to personally tailored for your event. He also performs a certain number of backing tracks at intimate events.
A former lead saxophonist in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain, Rob studied at the Royal Northern College of Music before 'setting sail' for Australia in 2008. His varied career since has included performances with household names, concerto performances with orchestras. His 2013 CD of new Australian saxophone music is played regularly on ABC Radio and Radio Arts Indonesia. In 2018 he completed his doctorate studying the role of the saxophone in popular music recordings of the 1970s and 1980s - the music he really loves!
