I offer everything needed for a great karaoke party: Music, Lighting, equipment, and around 300,000 Karaoke songs to choose from. Every Karaoke event or DJ Event is unique. When you book me you not only get the music, you get the experience of standing center stage and singing your heart out among professional lighting, great sound, and all your friends and biggest fans. I also work with my clients to provide custom playlists for themed events, as well as all my standard events so that way there is next-to-no awkward silence. This means that custom playlists are transitioned between singers and will occupy any downtime if there is a shortage of singers at your event. I am a sole proprietor in my business, so every event is met with a welcoming and caring attitude to make sure that every client's needs are met or exceeded. I also can and may fill in singing during slower periods of an event to engage the crowd to sing, as well as adjust to incoming requests to make sure everyone, singers and listeners, is enjoying the event.
Each event has the option for lighting units, 2- 12" PA Powered speakers and a subwoofer, up to 4 wireless professional recording quality microphones, and other state of the art equipment, including fog and haze machines.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have prior to booking to ensure that RoCk the Joint is the perfect fit for you and your event.
Karaoke songs vary around 250,000 different songs with the BMI, KaraFun, and ASCAP Rights to use the music.
I would prefer a Wifi network to access additional Recent music (about 70,000 Karaoke songs to stream), parking close to the entrance/location of set up in/outside the venue, at least 3+ electrical outlets (properly grounded highly recommended), At least 8ft x 8ft performance space for Karaoke Booth set up, and clearance for speakers about 10-20ft away on both sides, IF venue has TVs to connect to, performance space must be within 25-30ft of the TV to connect for Karaoke, otherwise, I can supply my own.
Directions to the location of services (if there are multiple buildings, directions to the building I am to set up in are preferred). Location to enter for easy access to load and unload, near the location to set up.
I am completely self-contained with my own PA System for both DJ and Karaoke, including PA Speakers, a Subwoofer, Multiple lighting units, an optional Haze/fog machine, and a DJ Booth/facade.
Yes, I'm happy to play music from Apple Music between singers and during part of the tear down process. I'm happy to choose the music or let the client choose the music. Custom Playlists between singers, at the start, and during part of tear down, are part of my contracted services.
My Favorite event is a family reunion that gets held in Powers Lake, WI every year. The family rents out a former bar-now resort in the area, hosts a massive pig roast, and loves to sing. They used to have a member of the family who was local and ran their karaoke every year until he moved, and couldn't travel with all the equipment across the country every year. I have been a part of that event now for 3 years. My closest 2nd favorite was a Tie between the Edward Jones Company Summer Party in Door County (Egg Harbor) due to their energy and love for karaoke, and PAVE in Beaver Dam, WI for DJing for such an amazing Fundraiser Gala helping people who have been Survivors of Domestic Violence.
I love all events in general, but if I had to pick, I would choose the Corporate events for Karaoke. There is something more special about getting people to let loose a little outside of the workplace, and see their creativity shine through song. It may surprise you to learn who you work with, that could be hiding a wonderful voice or some mad performance skills.
I started off as a Bar patron in Madison, WI at a local establishment that had a Weekly karaoke show. When I turned 21, I started going every week. Eventually, over the course of 5-6 years, I realized that I only missed 13-15 shows. Prior to Covid, I became close friends with the Host and eventually started to learn how the system he had worked, and eventually helped out and learned how to run the basics. Once Covid hit, he chose to retire from Karaoke but wanted the Business to carry on. He asked me in 2020 to take over officially and I was shocked, nervous, and excited all the same. Here I am 5 years later, a business owner of a Karaoke and DJ Business going on 5 years of my generation of RoCk the Joint, and about 17 years of RoCk the Joint as a whole, with hundreds of shows under my belt in a variety of different venues.
That is a tough question. I grew up with 80's/90's Rock and Country. Some of the biggest voices who have shaped my life would be: Journey, Shania, Michael Jackson, Adam Levine/Maroon 5, Reba, Tim McGraw, Joe Diffy, Alan Jackson, Trace Atkins, Blake Shelton. Even Newer artists have had a large influence on me too: Luke Bryan, Cole Swindell, Miranda Lambert, Michael Buble.
As far as my opinion of the greatest song of all time, I would have to tie it with:
Journey's: "Don't Stop Believing" because of the obvious inspiration about pursuing your dreams and not letting go.
Maroon 5's: "She Will Be Loved" shows compassion and love toward another person, despite obstacles, and suggests being kind to others.
Kansas's: "Carry On Wayward Son" just sounds epic and has been a song that has lasted decades and everyone sings along when it comes on. Plus it was the Theme song (unofficially) for "Supernatural" and that is where people recognize my name.
This depends heavily on the venue and nature of the event. I normally arrive 2 hours before the time the client wants me to start, this way I can set up everything, deal with any troubleshooting, and be ready to start on time. With the unpredictable nature of karaoke, some venues ask that I stay a little longer (I am happy to stay up to 30 minutes late without any extra charges), and sometimes it might be a dud and the client requests more DJing instead to please the crowd or the event wasn't as busy as planned and the client cancels early (which is rare).
I'm happy to play outside but I ask for shade or covering (both for myself and my equipment heat levels), a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area that also limits the need for extension cables).
The clients have every right to request whatever music they would like for their Karaoke and DJ event needs, however, I just like to remind them that if the event is for a variety of people (including Children) to keep in mind choices that could include children, and that not every genre or song choice may be liked by every attendee.
Previous customers would describe RoCk the Joint as a high energy karaoke event that gets the audience on their feet dancing, plenty of people singing, and overall just a very fun experience that caters to the majority. They agree that I do my best to read the room and make sure everyone is having a great time.
