Ruby Joule is a classically trained dancer and actress who has performed her award-winning burlesque and cabaret acts all over the world. She is a founding member and producer of the Jigglewatts Burlesque Revue in Austin, Texas, and an instructor with the Austin Academy of Burlesque. As a burlesque performer she has been called "ravishing" (San Antonio Current), and she is a three-time title holder at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, the pre-eminent burlesque event worldwide, and holds the title of "Miss Tiki Oasis." She was crowned “Texas Performer of the Year” by the Hot Rods and Heels Festival and won “Best Costume” and “Most Original” at the Texas Burlesque Festival, among others. She has been featured in numerous burlesque and variety arts festivals and headlined the Ibiza Burlesque Festival, Toronto Burlesque Festival, Texas Burlesque Festival, Viva Dallas Burlesque, Bustout Burlesque in New Orleans, Peepshow Menagerie in L.A., Hubba Hubba Revue in San Francisco, Le Scandal in New York City, the Rocky Mountain Burlesque Festival (Crested Butte, CO) and was named among the top 30 most influential figures in burlesque worldwide by 21st Century Burlesque Magazine (London) for three years in a row.

What to expect: Performances are hand-tailored to each event and can range from classic, traditional burlesque striptease choreography to atmospheric burlesque-style go-go dance and even corporate conservative or family-friendly, according to your preference. Elaborate, dazzling costumes and flowing feathers complete the fantasy "wow" factor of this entertainment. Shows can be adapted to almost any theme or audience and can be to recorded music or a live band.

We can adapt to performing in different types of spaces, but an open area of at least 10' x 10' is ideal; as well as a sound system and someone to operate it. We will need a safe, secure, private and air-conditioned room for a costume change, furnished with at least one mirror, in as close proximity to the staging area as possible.

I got to perform in an exclusive underground cabaret in Paris, with the then-first lady of France in the audience, having a great time! The best venue I've performed at would probably have to be any of the House of Blues locations; they take wonderful care of performing artists.
I can't say that I have a favorite type of event at which I perform, but from weddings to birthdays to corporate events and product launches-- it is really special to get to be a part of milestone events and create lasting memories.
I started performing burlesque in the summer of 2006, following years in the theatre, in classical ballet, and some years in a hula and Polynesian dance troupe. After forming my own burlesque troupe and traveling the USA to perform, I branched out as a soloist to perform internationally and have since entertained at public and private events all over the world.
I am most influenced by the burlesque superstars of the golden era such as Lili St. Cyr, Tempest Storm and Blaze Starr. A contemporary that I find quite influential is, of course, Dita Von Teese-- but it's tough to say whether I have a favorite! Each one brings something so unique to the stage.
I typically plan to arrive at least an hour prior to the first performance, or a little earlier if I'm setting up my giant champagne glass. Each individual performance is about the length of 2 - 3 songs, so on average, about 5-6 minutes of choreography. With the costume layers and “tease” element, It’s definitely more of a “wow” factor than a time filler. I'm happy to extend the length of my routines according to the situation, for example, if I am performing in a very large room. My rates typically cover up to two unique performances, or I can do one longer performance if that better suits the flow of the event's activities.
Outside performances are a possibility, but it depends on the temperature as my costumes are not intended to be worn in extreme heat or cold.
I am happy to tailor my performances to client requests as much as possible and can accommodate most song and theme requests.
