Thanks for reaching out and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! The Ruby party & events band has 4-lead singers (two of whom are guitarists also) and can perform as a 10-piece band with brass section, or 7-piece without brass.
We would love to provide the live musical entertainment at your event and make it remembered forever.
For Weddings:
Our band specializes in a dual approach, entertaining the 25-40 yr old (bride+groom generation) and 45 to 65+ (their parents' generation!). We also have up to 2 hours of elegant cocktail/ jazz/ lounge songs to choose from so that we can provide live music during any or all of the parts of the program: Ceremony/ Processional; Cocktail Hour; Reception. (We find that recorded background music is best during the Dinner).
You may be familiar with some of our lead singers:
- Maddy Hudson was a contestant on American Idol for several episodes and successfully auditioned for Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. to be accepted for the show.
- Stephanie Hammack is also the lead singer in the all-girl band Flock of Seagirls.
Our diverse songlist is attached. Because we have 2 guitars, 4 lead singers (male & female), keyboards, and a horn section we can do a wider variety of songs with more authenticity than many other bands. We don't rely on pre-recorded backing tracks.
We are well know for being great onstage entertainers, providing Master of Ceremony Services, and working early and often with the family and with your wedding planner to ensure a smooth fun wedding event.

Need (2) separate 20-amp electric circuits within 30 feet of the stage. "Separate" means they are are on separate circuit breakers.
If 10-piece we need at least 10 parking spaces. If 7-piece we need at least 8 parking spaces.
For load-in, set up, and sound check we need at least 3 hours before first guests arrive. 3.5 hours is better.
For storage during the show of equipment and instrument cases we need an area around 8'x8' if 10-piece, or 6'x 8' if 7-piece. Other dimensions will work if the same equivalent area. We can also store things behind the stage or under the stage if properly hidden.

We performed at the Green Room in the San Francisco War Memorial on Van Ness Avenue across the street from SF CIty Hall. Recently we performed a fundraiser held at the historic Art Deco BAL Theater for L.A. musicians whose instruments were destroyed in the wildfires. We play annually at members-only wine club events at a few wineries in St Helena.
We enjoy performing weddings, corporate annual events, and exclusive private parties that have a special purpose or theme. Weddings of course stand alone as having special meaning. We work very closely with wedding+event planners.
Most people in the Ruby Band have been in performing or touring bands for 10 years or more. Some have had solo careers such as one of our female singers Maddy Hudson who appeared on 4 TV episodes of American Idol.
We favor artists with amazing vocal ranges and dynamics (Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Sia, Bryan Adams, Ann Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Steve Perry, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Jon Bon Jovi) and songs with rich vocal harmonies that feature our 4 lead singers.
(1) we need to arrive 3 hours before first guests arrive. 3.5 hours is better. We do a 40-min sound check that starts 1 hour before first guests arrive.
(2) after the performance 1.25 hours is needed for breakdown and load out.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade in hot weather, a flat level surface and for it to be covered if there is any chance at all of rain. Two separate 20-amp electric circuits must be located within 30 ft. of stage. "Separate" means on separate circuit breakers.
Clients give very specific guidance and preferences, but do not pick all the songs. For weddings we can do up to two new songs by request.
Previous clients - particularly wedding couples and wedding planners - describe us as "fun high energy entertainers", "very accommodating", "easy to work with and coordinate with, going above and beyond what is expected". All clients have remarked about the quality of our vocalists and about the diversity of our song selection.
Our 10-piece format includes:
- 2 female lead singers
- 2 male lead singers (each playing lead or rhythm guitar)
- 3 piece rhythm section: bass, keyboards, drums
- 3- piece horn section including Trumpet, Trombone, Sax
The 7-piece is all the above except the horn section.
