Ruby Boukabou & Mbango Baer are a dynamic tap dance duo based in Paris who have captivated audiences for over a decade in venues and festivals across France and beyond (La Bellevilloise, Le Divan du Monde, Marciac Jazz Festival, Glastonbury, and more).
Their performances blend the elegance and energy of classic tap dancing—evoking the golden era of Ginger Rogers, Bill Robinson, and Sammy Davis Jr.—with original choreography, vibrant musicality, and unique rhythmic compositions. From dazzling solos to fluid, groovy improvisations, their shows are a sparkling celebration of tap’s timeless charm and contemporary creativity.

RUBY Boukabou et MBANGO Baer sont des artistes de scène, danseuses de claquettes (tap dance) vivant à Paris et se produisant dans des salles, festivals, évènements en France et ailleurs depuis plus de 10 and (le 1905, La Bellevilloise, Le Divan du Monde, La Java, Festival In Off en Allier, Marciac jazz festival, Glastonbury festival...).
Dans leurs spectacles on retrouve l’élégance et l’énergie des claquettes classiques comme aux temps des films en noir et blanc avec Ginger Rogers, Bill Robinson ou Sammy Davis Junior! Mais emportés par la musicalité de leur danse percussive le spectateur découvre aussi des créations chorégraphiques originales qui accompagnent de leurs rythmes dansants des musiques aux styles variés. Le tout peut être entrelacé de chants et surtout de solos d’improvisation uniques dans leurs styles: fluide, groovy, virtuose et pétillant!
Any jazz standard
Wooden boards (we can potentially bring but prefer if there are 2 x 1.2 m 2 per dancer), sound system (or we can bring boom for smaller event), microphones for tap boards if larger event. To be discussed for other sound requirements depending on if we are bringing musicians to complete our act or playing just as a duo with DJ/ own music. Lighting will depend on venue.

We enjoy large music festivals, more intimate concerts and private events for a pop up.
Been performing since creating back yard plays for parents. Since have studied and performed theatre, cabaret, and first regular gig was tap dancing on the bar at the Spiegeltent after La Clique in Melbourne and Edinburgh.

We normally arrive around an hour before the performance to set up. We normally perform 1 - 3 pop up numbers of 3- 10 minutes or a set or two of 10 minutes if in duo or if in a group with musicians 2 X 45 minutes or 3 x 30 minutes though this adapts to the venue and client. We can adapt.
