Soumya is an Indian classical musician par excellence. He had his early training in India in one of the rarest classical North Indian instruments, the fretless lute or the Sarod. For over 40 years, Soumya has mastered the technique of this beautiful instrument. Apart from playing in true Hindusthani classical style, Soumya has also collaborated extensively with other world music genres, such as jazz, flamenco and West African music.

Soumya is based out of the Washington DC area in the United States, but performs extensively throughout the country as well as abroad. He performs for public events, such as music festivals and concert tours, but also performs for corporate and other private events.
