Southern Komfort Brass Band is in YOUR town!
Founded in 2010, the Jackson (MS)-based Southern Komfort Brass Band brought together 9 musicians who quickly discovered their niche - New Orleans-style street jazz with a unique Mississippi twist. Countless thousands have traveled to New Orleans to hear the likes of Dirty Dozen, Rebirth , Soul Rebels, Hot 8 and Lil' Rascals Brass Bands. They figured, why not enjoy this exiting style of music in Mississippi? And the party has been going on ever since!

Biography
Southern Komfort Brass Band was formed in Jackson in 2010, becoming Jackson’s only modern New Orleans-style brass band. Although we pay homage to the traditional (second-line) styles in our shows, that does not define who we are. We are true to the spirit of our predecessors, such as Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels, Hot 8 and Dirty Dozen, while evolving into our own unique presentation. Our shows are vibrant and dynamic, which reflects this exciting form of music. Southern Komfort Brass Band's style also draws from the musical influences of jazz, soul, funk, blues and gospel, which we blend to create our own distinctive sound.
The band has performed at many festivals, fundraisers, wedding receptions, clubs/bars and churches in the area. Southern Komfort won in two categories for the 2013 Best of Jackson Awards (Best Original Band and Best Cover Band) and in three categories for the 2014 and 2015 Best of Jackson Awards (Best Jazz Artist, Best Original Band and Best Cover Band) sponsored by the Jackson Free Press (local weekly alternative newspaper).
