Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

If outside, we need a space that is covered to protect us from the elements. We require a reliable power source. We need a reasonably close location to park our 5 SUV-style vehicles for load-in and load-out.

What information do you require about a venue?

We require load-in and parking information to make accessing the venue and set up easier.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we’re completely self-contained. We bring our own PA system and sound engineer to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after, and between our sets. We are happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose it, based on needs (line dancing, special requests, etc.).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

We enjoy all the gigs we play, but the ones we love the most are those where the crowd sings along and dances to our songs! Nothing makes us happier than seeing smiles on happy faces!

What's your favourite type of event?

We enjoy performing at various events, but entertaining large crowds at conventions, corporate gatherings, or fairs is the most rewarding! We love seeing happy people dance to the music they cherish and remember.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

SPEED LIMIT 70 has played over 750 shows since we formed in 2012. But - our band members have each played hundreds of shows outside of this band, starting in the 1990s! From small bars to large blues festivals and arenas - we have covered it all!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

There's a long list of influences, from iconic 70s acts to the more cutting-edge acts of today - each of whom has found their way into our performances. We take notes from each act we admire, whether that is seeing how they engage a crowd or watching how they move onstage. We are always learning!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 45-minute or 60-minute sets with a short break in between. During the breaks, we play appropriate Spotify playlists.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade and cover, a flat level surface, and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 2 songs, or offer to play those specific songs on the breaks through Spotify playlist. The clients are welcome to pick songs from our repertoire but typically we prepare our set lists in advance and stick to them for optimal event flow and continuity.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe us as a high-energy group that loves to get the audience on their feet dancing.
