Sticks and Stone is a percussion trio from Edmonton, Canada centered on a marimba-band concept. They perform upbeat, feel-good music with groove including pop, rock, jazz, classical, video-game, Disney and world music. They share joyful music-making with a touch of humour, while playing on the "grand-piano of xylophones".
Thunderstruck (rock)
Take 5 (jazz)
Cello Suite #1 (Classical)
Under the Sea (Disney)
Ey Yare Jani (Persion folk love song jazzed/rocked up)
Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen (Folk)
Stubernic: Percussion trio virtuosic with gimmicks
Large heavy instruments involved.
We are accoustic, but we need time for setup and ample space.
Largest instrument (marimba) is 8'8" long, 3'4" deep, 3' tall.
Likely a small (bop) drumset, budget 4' deep 5' wide
Sometimes we also bring a vibraphone: 5' long, 2'5" deep, 3' tall
For smaller scale performances we usually budget arriving one hour before playing time (enough time to set up instruments).
For events with greater logistics, we often arrive earlier. The largest instrument, the marimba, is 230lbs and is moved in 11 cases. It needs to be assembled.
We can perform any quantity of music for any duration.
While we could pull off a 9hour gig without repeating music, for many settings a 45 minute performance is a comfortable time duration for attention spans.
