About / Biography

Mark M Thompson is an international performer. His live show, The Straits Show, is a tribute to the music of stadium gods Dire Straits and the subsequent output of frontman, songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire Mark Knopfler.

Songs featured: Brothers In Arms, Calling Elvis, Darling Pretty, Going Home, Heavy Fuel, Industrial Disease, It Never Rains, Money For Nothing, On Every Street, Private Investigations, Romeo & Juliet, Sailing To Philadelphia, Silvertown Blues, So Far Away, Speedway At Nazareth, Sultans Of Swing, Telegraph Road, Walk Of Life, Your & Your Friend and Your Latest Trick.

The show can be performed solo, or with a band (arrangements and tracks are available for cruise ship and holiday park work, an area of performing Mark is well versed in). The show can be formatted and adapted to suit the performance venue and musician line-up, and can be run as a single 45 minute/one hour "best of", or two separate 45 minute sets plus and encore if required.

Mark has travelled extensively as a performer, arranger and producer. He has a current C1D Visa, a seaman's discharge book and ENG1 medical. He is insured for performances globally.
