We love to perform for you! Saint Louis String Quartet is one of the most popular in Missouri for its variety of fun, recognizable repertoire. We cover the classics as well as modern music for weddings, corporate galas, fundraisers, and other upscale, luxurious events. Audiences love to sing along and dance to songs they know and adore.
Our quartet usually includes two violins, viola, and cello. We can also reduce to a trio, duo, or soloist. And we can add or have some musicians switch to other instruments like a singing pianist or guitar player, flute, or concert harp. And we can write custom arrangements of your favorite songs.

Some of our instruments are hundreds of years old so we always perform only in safe environments. When playing outdoors, we require shade and a level, reasonably clean area approximately 10' x 10'.
The name and address of the venue are necessary for us to know, as well as where in the venue we should setup to perform. Setting out a few chairs can be helpful if no one is available to greet us and show us where to setup. If playing a wedding ceremony, we aim to have a decent line of sight of both the altar and where the processionals will begin. A wedding coordinator or family friend or relative providing subtle cues can help us know when to change songs.
Yes, we offer sound systems for officiants and vows, and for our musicians. If our string quartet is performing amongst hundreds of people talking, we recommend having us amplified.

An upscale marriage proposal was held at the Four Seasons on their outdoor rooftop and our string quartet was hired to perform. We were also hired to custom write an arrangement of the future bride's favorite song, which we performed as he proposed and confetti canons fired with the Gateway Arch in the background. We played a lot of well known music and some guests were dancing.
Performing original music is our favorite and giving seated concerts is the best because we get to interact with the audience by telling them about the music, our instruments, and our musicians. Weddings are what our string quartet entertains the most but we also do corporate events, birthdays, public concerts, and almost any type of event seeking high end entertainment.
Most of our musicians have been performing professionally for decades. Some have toured and performed in several countries, been on studio recordings, and many have teaching experience. Almost every musician The Matt McCallie Orchestra hires has earned at least one music degree.

Most wedding ceremonies need one hour with our string quartet. This includes 15-20 minutes of preludes as guests arrive, a 30 minute wedding ceremony, and time left for a few postludes. We typically have someone on site to make sure we know where to setup around 90 minutes prior to each acoustic performance.
We often perform outside and are happy to do so as long as the weather cooperates and we are provided a safe situation.
We offer an enormous song list that spans traditional classical selections like Flower Duet, Arioso, Canon in D, Ave Maria, Prelude in C, Ode to Joy, and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. For more modern ambiance, we also perform jazz, country, oldies, Motown, Top 40, rock, and soundtrack music from Disney films and others like Star Wars, Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, and Indiana Jones. Songs from Frozen to Metallica to Taylor Swift are in our vast repertoire so we try to offer something for everyone.
Most of our clients comment on how beautiful our music is. Many also enjoy hearing songs they recognize that gets their toes tapping and has them singing along.
